The Company:
A global Oil & Gas operator with extensive operations in the Caspian Region.

The Role:
Our client is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer (Marine QC) to work on a major development project in Baku, on a 6/2 rotation.

Estimated start date is 1st December 2014.

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for overseeing the mechanical construction of a Subsea Construction Vessel and assist in commissioning scope as well as liaising with the shipyard and vessel operator personnel.

Roles and Responsibilities include:
• The role of the Mechanical Engineer is to provide assurance for the marine systems during the construction of marine vessels.
• The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for monitoring and inspecting the installation, Mechanical completion of all main and auxiliary machinery, equipment and piping associated with the vessels' marine and mission systems and hotel service systems and equipment, to ensure compliance with the contract specification, approved drawings, Class rules and good industry practice. This also includes a small a small number of Company Standards
• Advise any deviations/non-conformances against approved drawings and make recommendations to the construction lead and Lead Mechanical Engineer.
• Assist during the pre-commissioning, commissioning and sea trials phases of the build program.
• Responsible for the marine and mechanical systems during construction/installation stages of the SCV build including preservation of equipment and systems.
• Assist with the installation of main equipment such as cranes, elements of the diving systems and the D.P. system.
• Verify mechanical integration with other marine and project systems.
• Oversee the day to day activities of the Yard activities during construction, installation and commissioning of equipment and piping.
• Report on all aspects of design and equipment installation progress or issues to the Construction Lead and Mechanical Lead.
• Review and verify design, as required, engineering drawings and documents.
• Review work packages, commissioning procedures, FAT procedures, SAT procedures and mechanical completion documents.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Engineering degree or Class 1 Certificate of Competence or equivalent.
• Marine technical experience in shipping or ship construction/repair yards.
• Previous construction supervision experience as Machinery Inspector or Ship's staff standing-by vessels under construction including cranes, dive systems, dynamic positioning system and a knowledge of offshore working practices and standards.
• Preferably seagoing experience in the rank of at least a Second Engineer.
