The Company:
Our client, a diverse Canadian Energy Company, plans new developments estimated at $12+ Billion over the next 5 years.

This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only. Residents of Newfoundland & Labrador will be given first consideration for this position.

The Role:
The Mechanical Engineer / Piping Engineer will have responsibility:

Responsible to Lead Mechanical Engineer for the overall management and coordination of the mechanical and piping engineering work for the auxiliary systems in accordance with the project scope,schedule budget and procedures ;

• Prepare all technical documentation required for the auxiliaries including but not limited to:
• General layout drawings
• Design Criteria
• Piping Isometrics
• Piping Schematics and PID's
• Piping Stress and Hydraulic Calculations
• Equipment Specifications and Datasheets
Standard detail drawings
• Construction and Fabrication drawings
• Equipment lists
• Line lists
• As-Built drawings
• Monitor the engineering deliverables to ensure alignment with the planning and control of the engineering budget and schedule;
• Ensure that the checking and interdisciplinary coordination is carried out in accordance with the
project instructions;
• Assist in reviewing the outcomes of quality audits of engineering work to carry out remedial in accordance with the project Instructions and Quality Assurance Plan;
• Review manufacturers' drawings and technical data to verify conformity with design criteria and client Energy's standards, codes, practices and operating philosophy.
• After award of contracts and purchase orders as instructed, monitor the fabrication and construction work to ensure it is executed in accordance with the Engineering Design;
• Work closely with the respective Project Services / Planner(s), Engineering Manager(s), Company's Technical and Design Integrity group, Construction & Completions Managers, Quality Assurance, and other functional expertise during the design, procurement and construction phases of the Project;
• Stewardship of detailed mechanical package engineering deliverables production and schedule to meet
contract package(s) requirements;
• Work with Package Lead and Package Engineer to ensure key procurement activities and recommendations are undertaken, including review of bids and input to award recommendation;
• Following award, work with package team members to ensure obligations of both Company and Contractor are adhered to;
• In conjunction with the Package Leader and Package Engineer provide input to mechanical package
interfaces to ensure they are clearly identified
• Interface with the Project's Ready for Operations representative(s) to ensure constructability and
operability design requirements are stewarded;
• Interface with the suppliers / contractors to ensure that the installed facilities:
(a) meet all Design, Safety, Quality, Schedule, Construction and Regulatory Requirements
(b) meet Project Goals for Safety, Operability, Reliability and Environmental Performance
• Coordinate Company's response to vendor/site queries and concession requests in a timely manner to avoid schedule impact;
• Attend FAT's as required.
• Provide site specific inspection reports during surveillance activities at vendor fabrication facilities /
sites / etc.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The Mechanical Engineer / Piping Engineer will have experience:

• Minimum of ten plus (10 +) years in the mechanical engineering design field with an emphasis on mechanical and piping engineering for the hydroelectric industry sector. The incumbent should also have a background with past experience on large scale projects.
• Experience in the design of mechanical auxiliary systems of hydroelectric or thermal powerhouses would be an asset.
• Prior experience interfacing with and managing delivery of large scopes in a large project execution environment.
• Experience with Catia 3D software would be an asset
