The Company:
Our Client, a major international owner/operating company, seeks expertise for their Oil Sands mega-projects in Alberta.

This opportunity is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

The Role:
As a member of a multidisciplinary project team this position will be assigned to the project Task Force Team and will be responsible for coordinating the Mechanical engineering activities related to one of the SAGD projects along with supporting field activities associated with fabrication, construction and commissioning of the facility. For day to day activities, management of activities, responsibilities and accountabilities, this position will report to the Project Manager for the SAGD Project.

Responsibilities will include:
• Mechanical lead for Project including feasibility studies, design concept and selection, milestone schedules, cost profiles, development plan and risk analyses
• Procure mechanical engineering contractors to execute the various works
• Provide mechanical technical support and input to the design, construction, and quality control of the new facilities
• Review engineering and design deliverables from contractors and vendors
• Participate in studies, document reviews and technical bid evaluations
• Interact with multiple stakeholders and team members internally and externally, including asset owner, engineering, procurement, and construction, to ensure stakeholders contribute to and buy-in to plans and decisions
• Integrate all mechanical engineering activities of the modification project
• Ensure regulatory compliance is met in the delivery of projects
• Ensure contractor’s engineering and project deliverables meet Client requirements
• Work with document management and lifecycle information (LCI)
• Applying Company and project specific HSE policies and related standards
• Ensuring project deliverables are prepared on time and budget
• Preparation and follow up of work orders & change orders to contractors, consultants and Company; assuring adequate input from project team disciplines as required
• Assurance of alignment with Company’s Capital Value Process (project management process)

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• An degree in Mechanical Engineering and a professional member of APEGGA in good standing
• Team leadership experience preferably in an Owner’s company organization
• Excellent understanding of work processes within very large projects and major companies throughout all project phases from concept development to detailed design, construction and commissioning
• Ability to integrate diverging interests of different disciplines in order to “get the job done”
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
