The Company:
A major Oil & Gas Operator with extensive projects in the Caspian Region.

The Role:
Position is responsible for engineering work related to routine and turnaround plant support at the oil and gas plant in western Kazakhstan. This facility processes the production from the Tengiz oil field, the 6th largest in the world.

Responsibilities include work scope development for each job package followed by detailed engineering associated with the preparation of Job Packs for construction execution. This is a multi-national work environment with team members from various western countries as well as former Soviet countries. A primary job responsibility is the mentoring and coaching of Kazakh national engineers. Required to execute engineering work independently with minimal review and oversight by the expatriate supervisor. Accepts accountability for the responsibilities placed upon the position.

This is a rotational position with a 28 days on / 28 days off work schedule. Work days are 12 hours long Monday through Saturday with a 6 hour work day on Sunday. The office will be located in Tengiz.

Safety & Environmental
- Exhibits a strong commitment to safety and environmental issues and promotes this attitude in everyday work setting. The production stream has a high concentration of H2S (approximately 21%) and maintaining the integrity of systems to contain this process stream is an essential element of all activities.
- Supports Process Safety Management by facilitating and participating in PHA’s and PSSR’s, as well as updating Process Safety Information and using the MOC process.
- Participates in all required safety initiatives and programs such as the behavioral based safety (BBS) program.

Mentor and Coach
- Provides leadership, coaching and mentoring to Kazakh engineers to develop their skills related to job pack development.
- Leads by example.
- Provides day-to-day mentoring to show them how to do their tasks.
- May include teaching in an informal classroom setting but primarily one-on-one contact with each engineer.

Turnaround Engineering Support
- Provides engineering support during all phases of the turnaround process.
- In addition to performing detailed engineering on his own projects, he will support other engineers in the Design Engineering Group with completion of their engineering work.

Typical tasks include:
- Developing scope of work for the maintenance, repair, and replacement of pressure vessels, piping systems, tanks, valves, heat exchangers, boilers, furnaces and other process plant equipment.
- Completing detailed engineering required to assemble Job Packs for the execution of work scope items.
- Preparing the necessary documentation to comply with regulatory requirements and Company procedures.
- Assisting in the procurement of materials by preparing detailed specifications, analyzing vendor quotations, and responding to vendor inquiries.
- Coordinates the involvement of technical experts on engineered equipment.
- Review of completed jobs in the field to verify that the work was performed per the engineering Job Pack.

Technical Knowledge and Skills
- Demonstrates competency in a broad range of technical skills with emphasis on refining, chemical processing, or gas processing plant engineering.
- Has a documented work history of both design and practical operating experience in these types of plants.
- Position requires the ability to provide engineering services and coaching / mentoring in areas of expertise.
- Knowledge and experience with sour gas treating and processing facilities, and with oil production systems (e.g. Amine, SRU, Tail Gas, Sour Water treatment).
- Familiarity with and previous use of API Standards, ASME/ANSI Codes, TEMA, NACE, and other standards applicable to the oil and gas industry.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Minimum of Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years work experience as a Design Engineer or Reliability Engineer in a refinery, chemical processing facility, or gas processing facility.
- The candidate must have some experience as a principle or lead turnaround engineer responsible for developing a shutdown work list, identifying long lead materials, preparing material specifications, procuring material, and developing engineering work orders.
- Note that previous turnaround engineering experience is a mandatory requirement for this job.
- The candidate must be familiar with design, fabrication, and repair of typical process plant equipment including piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, burners, etc.
- Must be familiar with industry Codes, particularly ASME VIII Div. 1 and ASME B31.3.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
- Project management experience is highly desirable.
- Russian language skills are a distinct advantage but not required.
