The Role:
Mechanical/Piping Superintendent
Key Accountabilities:
• Ensure that all activities comply with the project health, safety and environmental policies and procedures. Actively participate in HSE management and continuous improvement.
• Ensure the work is completed on schedule by monitoring progress and reviewing three week look-ahead schedules. Provide daily and monthly reports on progress and proactively manage schedule conflicts and schedule delays. Assist with developing mitigating plans where necessary. Review the contractor’s detailed work plans and schedules to ensure they will meet the schedule milestones.
• Ensure the work is completed in accordance with the design drawings and specifications. Working in conjunction with the QA and Site Engineering groups, monitor the quality of the work and assist in developing and implementing corrective actions where necessary. Review and monitor the construction contractor’s detailed work methods to ensure they will meet the QA/QC requirements. Participate in the development and monitoring of deficiency lists to ensure completion of all construction deficiencies.
• Ensure that all required construction contractor documentation (eg. work permits, as-built drawings, work procedures, etc.) is completed and maintained in accordance with the procedures.
• In conjunction with the Site Engineering group, assist with the resolution of technical or engineering issues.
• Manage and direct the Mechanical/Piping Supervisors to assist in all related duties.
• Provide off-shift coverage for other Superintendents and Supervisors.

Professional Qualities
• Minimum of 15 years progressive experience in construction management, with an emphasis on mechanical and piping disciplines.
• Experience in the construction of mining process facilities.
• University degree (Bachelor, Masters) in technical discipline of a related field.
• Strong working knowledge of construction planning, construction methods, productivity analysis, quality assurance and HSE procedures in mechanical field.
• Demonstrated ability to manage subordinates and work with other disciplines and functions.
• Work experience in cold weather region with up to - 40 C.
• International and/or multicultural experience.
• Provide mentoring to national staff.

Working Schedule: a choice between two working schedules is given:
• Option 1 – 5 days/2days schedule:

Residential status with/without family based in Astana, Kazakhstan with 5 days working on Construction site / 2 days off in Astana;
Work location – Construction site in Pavlodar region

Mechanical/Piping Superintendent

Vacation entitlement – Annual paid vacation of 24 working days;
Allowances – accommodation allowance, transportation allowance and travel allowance to cover two times a year flights for Employee and accompanying family members (if status at assignment is couple or family based) from Astana to point of hire.
Accommodation & meals will be provided on site.
• Option 2 – FIFO 8 weeks/2 weeks schedule:

FIFO single status only: 8 weeks on onstruction site/2 weeks off Kazakhstan;
Work location – Construction site in Pavlodar region Vacation entitlement – No vacation entitlement is granted;
Allowances – roster allowance and travel allowances to cover all flights to/from site at the start and the end of each rotation from Astana to a point of hire;
Accommodation & meals will be provided on site.
Working Conditions
• Accommodations are provided at the project site. Single accommodation with private washroom, internet connection, television, and laundry service will be provided. Shared recreation facilities for staff are also available on site.
• Transportation to/from the project site is provided. Shared transportation is provided on site.
• PPE, including outerwear and boots, is provided.
• Temperatures range from approximately +30 C to -40 C. Wind chill factors are extreme in the winter months.
