The Role:
Due to an increase in workload our client now has a requirement for a Mechanical Project Engineer to work on a number of small scale mechanically biased projects on a top tier COMAH chemical site. The projects will typically involve vessel replacement, pipeline modifications/installation, relief stream modification/installation etc.

Primary Responsibilities – tasks will include but not be limited to the following:
• FEED for mechanically biased projects on site.
• Cost estimating and forecasting.
• Detailed design.
• Ensuring relevant standards are adhered to for all project lifecycle phases.
• Specification of plant equipment and associated items.
• Project cost and time scale control.
• Liaison with other departments including Production, Maintenance and other engineering disciplines.
• Coordination and Management of sub-contract installation teams.
• Development of installation and commissioning plans.
• Plant commissioning and pre-startup safety assessments.
• Preparation of suitable handover documentation.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• With a mechanical bias, qualified to a minimum of degree level, preferably chartered, and have proven experience in the process or petrochemical sector.
• Possess a robust knowledge of mechanical design and installation standards.
• Have significant experience of project definition, design, dealing with suppliers, managing sub-contractors, installation management and commissioning.
• Previous work experience in a highly regulated industry and be familiar with design codes & standards, MOC procedures, document production & management, detailed design, installation, commissioning etc
Be sufficiently knowledgeable and experienced to make an immediate impact within this role with minimal supervision.
• Able to work in a self sufficient manner, drawing upon and managing specialist resources from Engineering, Production and Maintenance to assist where required.
• Be familiar with PSSR, COMAH, DSEAR, PUWER, LOLER, and CDM regulations.
