The Role:
Our Client is seeking a number of Mechanical Technicians for their Gas Transmission & Distribution department.

Primary purpose:
Participates in the skilled mechanical maintenance activities of rotating and stationary equipment/ process plant machineries of the assigned areas. ie-Gas distribution systems (GDS) or Tank farm/Terminal/NGCF Areas. This includes execution of preventive, corrective, breakdown & inspection related mechanical maintenance jobs on equipment/machineries like Oil/Condensate export Pumps, marine loading arms, diesel engines, crude and condensate storage tanks, crude & condensate loading terminal equipment including Oil fiscal metering systems, Prover loops, pipe lines/valves/related accessories, compressors, pumps, fin-fans, heat exchangers/coolers, water storage tanks, vessels, fire protection systems/foam systems. Also executes minor pipe fabrication/fitting jobs. Carries out work in accordance with Corporation and applicable industry standards.

The duties include but not limited to:
i. Receives verbal instructions from Engineer via Senior Technician and organizes requisite tools and consumables / spare parts as required to carry out works and proceeds to job site.
ii. Carries out planned preventive maintenance checks as per the SAP planned schedule on operational equipment within the defined areas including but not limited to Pumps, diesel engines, compressors, fire water/foam systems, piping systems, valves & related accessories, noting and reporting condition to immediate Supervisor.
iii. Carries out planned routine maintenance of plant and equipment according to schedules/SAP task lists derived from manufacturer’s recommendations. Work scope to include the changing of oil & oil filters, air filters, greasing and general overhaul of equipment. Repairs or replaces defective components and rebuilds equipment as required.
iv. Carries out corrective maintenance and repairs, indicated by regular predictive maintenance checks or failures of equipment and systems, including stripping down of pumps, loading arms, diesel engines, compressors, metering systems etc. Checks clearances as per manufacturers set tolerances, condition of components and carries out alignment checks. Rebuild equipment including replacement of defective components or repairing / reconditioning as appropriate.
v. Ensures clearances and tolerances are within acceptable limits using a wide range of precision instruments including micrometers, gauges, tachometers and carries out the reinstallation and testing of equipment through various stages and reports condition to Supervisor.
vi. Participates in annual shutdown of major equipment turnarounds/repairs of specific equipment items (dismantles, repairs or replaces parts when required) and reassembles equipment in accordance with requirements.
vii. Carries out overhauls on small and medium size equipment and rotating machinery which includes changing parts, checking bearings, seals, impellers etc. and ensuring tolerances and clearances are within acceptable limits. Assists in the major overhaul of critical equipment i.e. the rigging and removal from skids and dismantling. Cleans and prepares parts for inspections and reassembles as instructed.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Diploma or equivalent.
Five (05) years experience in the maintenance of compressors, pumps and associated equipment.
