The Company:
Global chemicals and plastics manufacturer

The Role:
- Conducts corrosion and metallurgical failure analysis using the LYB laboratory
- Provides direction to the LYB metallurgical technician
- Writes clear and concise reports for distribution to LYB sites
- Communicate directly with site process and inspection groups to determine failure causes
- Conduct well-defined materials engineering tasks to resolve metallurgical or corrosion issues at various operating sites

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
KEY COMPETENCIES:

• Ability to write clear and concise failure reports
• Understanding of the basic functions and construction of petrochemical processing equipment such as piping, valves, vessels, columns, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, etc.
• Understanding of corrosion and metallurgical deterioration damage mechanisms, mechanical and physical properties of metals and non-metals, welding, coatings, and failure analysis
• Ability to coordinate work with our laboratory technician to conduct failure analyses using our on-site laboratory or an outside contract laboratory as required
• Experience directly supporting petrochemical operations with materials expertise
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Metallurgical, Materials or Corrosion Engineering
• Minimum of 15 years’ experience in the refining, petrochemical, or chemical process industries
