The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, requires expertise for their ongoing oil sands mega-projects in Alberta.This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

The Role:

Plan metals tasks and repairs (Pipefitting, Boilermaker, Rigging, Scaffolding, Insulation, etc.) for routine maintenance work in a refinery.

Key Deliverables:

The Planner is the key interface for the Operations and Supervisors. The Planner is responsible to develop and schedule safe job plans to meet scheduled expectations in their assigned area. Planning priorities include:
• Safety – plans must be built to complete work safely
• Environmental – plans must protect the environment
• Work Management – plans must include materials and optimal schedules

Key Responsibilities:

Ensuring there is a safe and efficient execution plan for all work prior to starting
· Follow job planning expectations as defined in the Strathcona Maintenance Process (e.g. field visit, job pack templates, quality plans)
· Develop and maintain critical documentation as required by the site Safe Work Practices
· Interface with SSHE, Engineering, Inspection and Operations as required to develop job plans
· Maintain planning backlog to agreed levels. Drive schedule compliance for all work activities, but especially
· Safety WOs
· Regulatory work
· Functional failures
· Steam WOs
· Check PMs for accuracy and barriers prior to pre-loading in site scheduling tool.
· Maintain the schedule for assigned area of work
· Ensure all workforce scheduled with high utilization
· Maintain 6 week forelog of planned jobs
· Schedule work activities for the upcoming week
· Manage and plan break-ins as per the break in process as flagged by the Front Line Supervisor (FLS). Advise Second Line Supervisor (SLS) of jobs to reschedule for break-in work
· Procure materials with the support of Procurement Services and the Materials Coordinator to meet schedule commitments
· Appraise the SLS of planning barriers, resource limitations, etc. in a timely fashion for corrective action
· Validate key WO fields to ensure the integrity of refinery data

· Driving cost efficiency mindset in mechanical Business Team
· Ensure plans are tight but achievable
· Ensure scope and budget changes are approved before work progresses
· Screen and drive plan efficiencies (e.g. MEVs, Access Planning)
· Develop job estimates as required by the Business Team

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Working knowledge of MS Windows and Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Fluent in English language (spoken & written)
• Journeyman in one of BM, PF or WD
• Previous relevant experience in a refinery
• Previous relevant experience as a first line supervisor
