Our client is a major organisation within defence, security and aerospace.
To safely and competently perform Calibration, Adjustments, Alignments, Repairs and Maintenance to the RSAF Inventory of Test, Measuring and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) associated with Aircraft platforms, Weapons, Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) and Standard Support Equipment (SSE) in accordance with the RSAF Metrology Quality Manual (RSAFM 4-7168).
To train RSAF Metrology Technicians from Skill Level 3 Qualified to Skill Level 7 Qualified, in accordance with RSAF Training Policies, Procedures, Plans, Directives and Documents, ensuring maximum use of available resources and using "Best Practice" Principles in order to ensure excellence in Training delivery and outcomes.
To act as a "Subject Matter Expert" in areas of allocated responsibilities and provide sound advice and guidance to RSAF Metrology Technicians on an "On-Going" and "As Required" basis.
Must be fully conversant with the RSAF Metrology Quality Manual (RSAFM 4-7168).
Must be able to manage resources available to ensure the timely and efficient accomplishment of ALL assigned and routine tasks, in accordance with the RSAF Metrology Quality Manual (RSAFM 4-7168). and as directed by the Squadron Commander, Deputy Squadron Commander, Superintendent and immediate Supervisors.
Ensure Production Tasks are completed in accordance with the RSAF Metrology Quality Manual (RSAFM 4-7168) and associated directives.
Provide, to RSAF Metrology Technicians at all competence levels, during normal and daily Laboratory operations, the following:
a. Technical Advice and Guidance.
b. Knowledge Transfer.
c. Safety Advice/Guidance and Supervision.
Provide advice, through Supervisors, to the QA Team and the Management Team on Technical, Training and Administrative issues relating to assigned responsibilities in order to enhance or improve on the following:
a. Continuous Improvement Initiatives.
c. Measurement Capability.
f. Customer Support, Service and Relationships.
j. Operational Procedures.
k. Organisational Procedures.
Ensure that Laboratory Standards are maintained in good working order.
Maintain currency in MetCal related methodology and techniques and act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) assigned areas of responsibility.
Assist QA Staff in the conduct of the RSAF Level 7 Metrology Technician Upskilling Program.
Act as a "Mentor" for ALL RSAF Staff allocated to specific areas of responsibility.
Technically assist immediate Supervisor/s with the implementation of the RSAF Training Program as detailed in the RSAF 105- Series of Manuals and in accordance RSAF Metrology Quality Manual (RSAFM 4-7168).
Ensure that allocated areas of responsibility are kept clean and tidy and that all tools and safety equipment are maintained in good working order.
Deputise for, and understudy, Supervisor, as and when required.
Carry out any other legitimate, legal task, as directed and/or assigned by the Squadron Commander, Deputy Squadron Commander, Superintendent and immediate Supervisors.
The MetCal Technician Type II's most difficult task is time management in relation to his assigned Production and Training Tasks ensuring adherence to the Turn-Around-Time and Training objectives of the Squadron.
Secondly, there is a considerable demand placed on the MetCal Technician Type II to conduct Technical Studies on items of AGE/SSE, and on other Weapons Platforms, on a regular basis in order to ensure the correct Calibration Support for these assets, ensuring traceability and repeatability. He is also required to compile Technical Reports highlighting deficiencies with AGE and SSE and elevating these to his immediate Supervisor/s for evaluation.
These tasks are both demanding, extremely time consuming and requires a lot of forward thinking and technical knowledge. The MetCal Technician Type II must be able to manage complex and demanding tasks often with limited time and resources.
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Will have successfully completed a formal training course directed towards the Calibration, Repair and Alignment of Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE).
Have strong practical Calibration experience as a Calibration Technician, Calibration Instructor or Calibration Quality Assurance Inspector.
Must be educated to at least Ordinary National Certificate level or equivalent, or have significant proven work experience to waiver this requirement.
Must be able to accurately and sensitively compile, collate and prepare Letters and Reports.
Must be competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access applications.
Must be organised and have the ability to prioritise workloads, often in demanding situations.
Must be able to communicate effectively with ALL levels of Company and RSAF Staff in a courteous and professional manner.
Must possess high standards of personal integrity and be capable of sensitive and tactful handling of personnel
