The Company:

The Role:
The MetCal programme ensures that the Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE), that is used to maintain the safe and effective operation of today’s high-performance aerospace systems, is regularly calibrated and shown to meet specification.

The MetCal Wing of the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) has six Secondary Calibration Squadrons (SCS’s) at various locations throughout the Kingdom. They undertake the calibration and repair of a total of some 26,000 items of TMDE each year using local measurement standards.

In support of the Secondary Calibration Squadrons, the RSAF has established its own primary measurement standards which are maintained in environmentally-controlled laboratories in the MetCal Wing’s Primary Calibration Squadron (PSC) in Dhahran.

The PCS ensures that all of its primary standards are traceable to in Internal System (IS) of units of measurement by sending some of them away, as appropriate, for periodic calibration by a national standards laboratory such as the National Physical Laboratory in the UK or the National Institute of Standards and Technology in the US. In this way, measurements made by all the TMDE used by the RSAF can be shown to be traceable and to have the level of accuracy required by the user.
