The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, requires accounting expertise for their ongoing oil sands mega-projects in Alberta.

This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

The Role:
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
• Analyze monthly financial results for midstream and downstream activities and report on results to the business and senior management as required
• Monitoring trading P&L in concert with Deal Handling (strike deal handling area)
• Establishment and management of a reporting system relating to the Diluted Bitumen Sales Agreement. Manage and complete recording of all transactions and ensure reconciliation of all transactions relating to east coast marketing activities
• Actively work with Deal Handlers to ensure transactions relating to the oil sands are properly captured in our financial statements
• Manage settlement of natural gas and electricity contract invoices to ensure timely payment.
• Work with our Stamford office to ensure an effective accrual process is in place and functioning for all Canadian Marketing activities
• Post any re-classes, accruals or other journal entries
• Work with our Stamford office to ensure reconciliation between our client’s trading system (RATS) and SAP
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations, as required
• Calculate, monitor receivables and payables in concert with Treasury to ensure settlements timely cleared and if not escalate to Deal Handling as required
• Ensure that financial results are accurately reflected in our client’s consolidated business plan and financial results
• Support quarterly management reporting efforts
• Analyze financial and physically settled oil, oil products, natural gas and power contracts to determine proper accounting treatment under IFRS
• Participate in documentation of controls procedures and processes (including documentation of accounting transactions relating to MPR)
• Provide support to the external and internal auditors
• Other duties as required

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
 Post-secondary education in business, finance, accounting or economics required
 Proven advanced proficiency with SAP
 Solid Excel skills
 A strong background in crude oil marketing, pipeline and terminal accounting including contract analysis, shipper account balancing, system and terminal reconciliation and invoicing is required. Exposure to natural gas marketing, power and offshore accounting would be an asset
