The Company:
Our client is an international Design house focusing on EPC projects around the globe. They currently have a need for a high calibre Engineering Manager to work out of their Sharjah offices.

The Role:
Reporting to the Middle East Operations Director, the Engineering/Design Manager will have total responsibility for the delivery of all Engineering projects executed by the Design centre in Sharjah, UAE. The scope of responsibility includes all activities associated with assessment of the Scope of Work, identification of deliverables, application of the Estimating norms to provide input to the establishment of the Estimate and Schedule, preparation of the Engineering Execution Plan, compliance with the Engineering Quality Plan, management of the preparation of all Design Deliverables, technical assurance, design verification and the application of best practice in the design process.


- Manage and coordinate all Design Engineering resources in the Regional Design centre, executing engineering projects.
- Overall responsibility for implementation of the Design Development Process and procedures during the execution of multi discipline engineering design projects.
- Manage the activities of the Chief Engineers and the GDC Chief Engineer, ensuring compliance with delivery plans.
- Ongoing and active liaison with the Senior Projects Manager and PMs / Engineers to identify and resolve delivery issues and safeguard the interests of the Operating Unit.
- Manage delivery from the Global Design Centre in line with the Global Design strategy.
- Provide information to the Project Controls team such that they can maintain an integrated planning schedule of all ongoing design engineering projects including resource forecasts by discipline and backlog forecasts including anticipated awards.
- Drive recruitment strategy
- Manage the competency assessment process for all engineering staff

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years experience in the management and delivery of multi discipline design projects for the O&G industry for upstream assets is essential, with a minimum of 15 yrs total experience in one of the 7 main disciplines required for Plant design.
- Engineering degree of equivalent technical qualifications relating to engineering design with specific focus on Plant design
- Detailed understanding of Engineering management of large offices undertaking major FEED projects, as well as management of Detail Design in support of EPC projects
- Fully conversant with Estimating practices for Engineering Design Projects, Integrated Planning of engineering activities across distributed locations and Cost Management practices for Design Engineering projects
- Detailed knowledge of the use of integrated engineering management suite of software for Plant Design, such as PDMS or Smart Plant
- Exposure to working with a multi national workforce is preferable.
