The Role:
This position is for an MS Access developer to work in an Engineering Systems Role.

The successful applicant must be able to work both as part of an integrated team and under their own direction, while meeting all the expectations of the client's office & project management. A highly proactive, common sense attitude is essential.

About the role:

The Client's Glasgow office is looking for an MS Access Developer with 2/3 years sound knowledge of database development, including data analysis and data interchange with Excel.

The role will be developing and maintaining a system that will collect data to be subsequently delivered to our client in a very specific format. Key task is the development of an Access 2003 compatible database according to gathered requirements and specifications from the engineering team. This includes building all foundational tables, interfaces, and reports as well as seeding the database with data from external sources.


6 to 12 months with prospect of longer term

Essential Experience:
•Set-up and development of MS Access databases
◦Need to be able to build Access database from scratch
◦Solid experience with data structures, algorithms, creating forms, reports and dash boards
◦Experience with Excel and data interchange
◦Able to pull/push data from multiple sources
•Experience with FrontEnd / BackEnd systems
•Assist in solving operating problems
•2+ years’ experience with Microsoft Access
•1+ year experience with VBA scripting within Microsoft Access
•Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
•Strong communication and time management skills

•Adaptable, Hard working, Enthusiastic, Approachable, Good humour
•Prepared to work occasional (short notice) overtime - evenings and /or weekends
•Can do, will do attitude
•Attention to detail especially when carrying out repetitive tasks
•Good communications skills
•Good organisation and time management skills

Experience that would be an advantage:
•Previously worked in an engineering office environment
•Strong aptitude for complex problem analysis / resolution
•Strong coding experience with VBA in writing custom functions (Record sets, dynamic reports etc…)

•Educated to HND (equiv’t) or above
•MS Excel & Access, with excellent keyboard skills

The duties may also include: -
•Contribute to the development of MS Office based systems. This includes updating/modifying existing systems and creating new ones.
•Other requests/activities as specified by the Manager of Systems

Key Task & Responsibilities:

Above all: To contribute to effective team working by developing project systems that aid execution while meeting the Client's policies, procedures, work practices and strategies.
