The Company:
Our client specialises globally in renewable energy, power, nuclear and oil & gas sectors. They specialise in offshore project management, construction and installation services. We are recruiting for their renewable division who are looking to navel architect.

The Role:
The Naval Architect is a key member of the Central Engineering team, seeking to use their considerable technical and professional experience to deliver optimum solutions for both project support and R&D activities. In doing so shall simultaneously develop their knowledge and that of the team.
The types of Design work will include:

•To provide Engineering support as required for our scope of services. This will include a number of functions including the below:

oHydrodynamic load analysis – information to structures & vessels and use of model to check final structures
oInterpretation of Turbine and tower Wind Analysis data and provision of guidance to structural design teams and vessels
oFor any vessel modifications provision of the Naval Architect services
oDevelopment of design for all floating components such as advice on Vertiwind, towage of buoyancy collars etc

In addition the role will include support to our Project teams, by either acting as Technical Authority in certain areas and provide Support to PMTs or, depending upon requirement, to act as a Project Engineer assigned to a Project, Tender or R&D project.

•Ensure the quality of work issued is high and conforms to Group procedures.
•Participate proactively in the management of the team
•Prepare and assess load cases for stability, lightship and strength calculations and weight control
•Perform design and analysis related to stability aspects for floating offshore structures
•Prepare general engineering and structural calculations as well as naval architecture calculations.
•Assist with the preparation of deck layouts and seafastening design calculations and detail design
•Interface with Drawing Office to ensure timely preparation of drawings required for inclusion in engineering documents and procedures
•To act as Interface Engineer for issued work to other internal technical support teams (Central Engineering, OED, etc) and confirm the output is in compliance with project deliverable requirements.
•To identify project risks associated with the allocated engineering tasks. Ensure that they area mitigated as far as reasonably practicable and provide updates to the risk register
•Present allocated engineering task project engineering details at Technical Review, Operations Review and HIRA
•Provide support for the training and development of Project Engineers and Graduates assisting on allocated engineering tasks or other activities or project teams
•To deliver above designs, reports and other engineering tasks in accordance with the contract, scope of work, agreed specifications standards & regulations, safety policies and in line with best engineering practice

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Must have:
• Degree in Naval Architecture
• Fluency in written and spoken English
• At least 5 years experience in a Naval Architecture role in an engineering company, Fabricator, Oil & Gas Contractor, Renewable company or similar
• Experience in hull design, modelling and analysis
• Experience working with classification society regulations, marine codes and standards and flag state rules
• Supervision of internal Engineering Resources and Design Houses
• Technical Review, Operations Review, HIRA and Management of Change processes
• The ability to develop and put forward new and better ways of doing things. Including challenging established ways of doing things by suggesting better alternatives
