The Company:
Our major Oil & Gas Client is seeking an NDE Engineer for a one year opportunity in Houston, Texas.

The Role:
The candidate will be responsible for assisting NDE team with technical support of EP and DS sites as well as with execution of R&D activities. The person we are seeking has some field experience, but is significantly more educated (BS or higher in engineering or physics) and is well-versed in the physics of NDE technologies.

Job Duties

• Technical Support of Operating Sites – Provide guidance to refineries, chemical plants, and EP and pipeline assets in the selection and application of appropriate NDE techniques to address specific inspection needs. Assist the customers in selecting qualified inspection vendors and in developing / approving inspection procedures. Assist in evaluation and interpretation of inspection results and provide advice regarding next steps (further inspection, equipment repair / replacement, etc.). The incumbent will have access to in-house experts on NDE, fitness for service, welding, materials, etc., and will make use of those resources as appropriate to help develop the advice provided to customers. The nature of these technical support activities can range from 1 hour or less responses to simple questions over the phone or by email, to multi-day or multi-week responses to complex questions that may require extensive interaction with colleagues and/or outside resources in order to find the best solution.
• Execution of R&D Programs – The NDE team executes a variety of R&D activities aimed at testing and qualifying new NDE technologies and at testing the applicability and limitations of existing NDE technologies in new applications. The general execution plan and deliverables for these R&D activities have been defined, but help is needed to define and execute a more detailed project delivery plan. The incumbent will work with members of the NDE team to define detailed R&D plans, and will be responsible for execution of those plans. In-house resources (technicians, equipment, and labs) are available, but limited. So, execution of the R&D plans will likely involve use of those internal resources as well as external laboratories, inspection companies, and testing facilities. The incumbent will identify and source the resources needed, will assure that the R&D plan is executed as designed, and will draft a report detailing results.
