The Company:

They design, engineer, manufacture, assemble, test, commission and install, as well as offering ongoing specialist support services.

The Role:
Quality Control (50%)
* Coordinate Welding and NDT quality control
* Carry out Weld Inspection and other NDT/NDE Activity
* Ensure Control of Non-Conformity and Rework
Quality Assurance (50%)
* Manage all welding control documentation
* Monitor and Measure welding performance
* Support the continuous improvement activity in welding and inspection
* Deputise for the Welding Engineer
* Support Business Winning Cost Estimating

The role encompasses but is not limited to the following activities / decision areas;

Customer Focus
* Interpret customer quality assurance requirements for Welding/NDT .
* Assurance of Welding/NDT/NDE controls and traceability across Project Lifecycle.
* Liaise with customer Quality Assurance and Inspection representatives on Welding/NDT quality and inspection issues and support witness tests.
* Provide Welding/NDT expertise and support to Business Winning Activity.
* Identify Risk and LFE and feedback into Project/Functions as necessary.
* Input into Design Reviews, Quality Plans, Manufacturing Quality Plans and Route Cards.
* Investigations on non-conforming product with Welding/NDT related issues.
Leadership and Governance
* Ensuring Governance (Policies, Process, Working Practices etc) is maintained.
* Identification of welding/NDT/NDE current and future business needs.
* Enhance Welding/NDT capability to reduce reliance on external expertise/support areas.
* Deputising for the Welding Engineer.
* Generate KPIs on welding performance.
Product and Service Delivery
* Supervision and Planning of NDT and Weld Inspection activity.
* Carry out NDT/NDE activities (Visual, LPT, UT) against specifications and drawings.
* Parent material and welding consumables verification (control and traceability) .
* Establishing that welding procedure availability, and has been approved as required by the appropriate authority and covers the scope of materials used in production.
* Manage in-house Welding/NDT requirements and records.
* Prepare/contribute to/review/approve Product verification and test documentation as appropriate e.g. Welding/NDT Qualifications/Approvals, technique sheets/ procedures, specifications, reports and life time records to cover the materials in production.
* Provide Welding/NDT expertise and support in the production of Investigation reports, Non-Conformity Reports and CCS for project quality issues.
Supplier Focus
* Review/approve Supplier Quality Plans.
* Surveillance and Final Release of subcontracted Welding/NDT activity to project requirements.
* Provide Welding/NDT expertise and support verification of Supplier Product inspection, Documentation reviews, Witness inspections.
* Provide support to investigations on supplier non-conforming product with Welding/NDT related issues.
* Provide necessary expertise and support to audit and review of Welding/NDT quality arrangements for the project during the projects lifecycle.

Essential role related knowledge, technical skills, qualifications and experience

* Engineering based qualification minimum C&G/ONC/HNC
* Minimum Level 2 Recognised qualification (e.g. CSWIP/PCN) in;
Visual Testing
Liquid Penetrant Testing
Magnetic Penetrant Testing
Ultrasonic testing
* 5 years minimum relevant industry experience from Nuclear/Aerospace/Defence/Oil & Gas Engineering Sectors
* 3 years minimum Weld/NDT Inspection Experience (i.e. Approval of Set-up and procedures, and managing the welding/NDT process)
* Product Verification of Weld/NDT process and associated records
* Interpretation of complex detailed engineering drawings and associated specifications and standards

Desirable
* Engineering based Degree Level Qualification
* Apprentice trained - Engineering/Craft Studies/Welding Operations
* Membership of Welding/NDT institutions
* Level 2 or higher Recognised Qualification (eg BGAS CSWIP) in;
Paint Inspection
Level 2 or higher Recognised Qualification (eg CSWIP / PCN) in;
Radiographic Interpretation
Internal Auditing
Quality Management Systems
Problem Solving & Improvement techniques e.g. 8D, DMAIC
