The Role:

To Test and Validate vehicle electronic communications networks.


Networks position resides in the Electrical Engineering department, within the Electrical Integration Team, reporting to the Senior Engineer for Architecture, Diagnostics and Networks.
The Engineer should liaise with Feature owners, Network Engineer, E0 Version Manager, Architecture team and Group networks team to ensure that all vehicle Networks perform to specification.


1. Specification of Vehicle networks test processes
2. Whole-Vehicle Network Test conduct
3. Single ECU Test support
4. Network Sign-off


The Engineer should work within a budget held by the Functional Manager, and be responsible for all external supplier and internal interfaces to achieve the delivery objective within this budget.
Any deviations to budget or risks to timely delivery shall be escalated via the Senior Engineer, the Module/SE Team, and the Functional Manager.

1. Specification of Vehicle Networks Test Processes
a. Definition of Network test strategy
b. Review Group test processes
c. Develop and document network test processes
d. Translate appropriate Group processes
e. Interface with Group networks test personnel to understand their test procedures and to migrate these to ensure commonality in testing

2. Network Test conduct
a. Perform Physical layer network tests for all Vehicle networks, including CAN, Flexray, MOST and LIN
b. Analyse test results & identify test failures vs Specification
c. Produce and issue Network test report for every test for inclusion in the overall General Integration Test report.
d. Support analysis of Data Logger files from test events & identify any deviations to specification.
e. Provide support for configuration & simulation of networks
f. Proficient with CAPL script generation in order to validate the network
g. Very good and clear understanding of test requirements for CAN/LIN/Flexray and how to implement in a hands on role

3. Single ECU Test support
a. Plan Single ECU test requirements
b. Perform Single ECU tests
c. Produce and issue single ECU test report

4. Network sign-off
a. Report overall network status to allow Whole Vehicle network sign-off to take place before ESO
b. Sign-off Single ECU network status in System 42
c. Support E0-SET and maintain awareness of Version management changes, and determine appropriate actions to take to ensure network compliance

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Networks Engineer should be qualified to a minimum of HND in electronic engineering or a related subject.

Able to Demonstrate experience in testing vehicle communication networks.
Proficient in the use of network tools including CANoe and Data Loggers.
Detailed knowledge of Network systems technologies

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
German language knowledge would be advantageous.
