Our client, a major owner/operating company, requires expertise for their ongoing oil sands mega-projects in Alberta.This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

The Role:
As a Nurse Practitioner your main responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

Conduct clinical assessments on employees to assist and/or determine fitness for work in Safety Sensitive and Specified Employee positions
Conduct health screening assessments as required
Participation in disability case management of work-related and non-work related illnesses and injuries
Provision of advice to employees on prevention of illness and injury
Provision of emergency treatment for illnesses and injuries
Involvement with clinic administration
Consultation with management on occupational health issues
Participation in the coordination of occupational health programs
Provision and documentation of services within the professional scope and standards of license specific to health care of employees and others, as determined by Occupational Health Division management

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
As a Nurse Practitioner you are required to have the following essential qualifications:

Post-Masters Nurse Practitioner (NP) Diploma
Current unrestricted nursing registration and eligibility for practice in Alberta (CARNA
At least 3-5 five years of related work experience
In depth knowledge of adult acute and chronic illness
Recognized expertise in applied clinical health risk assessment and fitness for work determination
Strong program management skills
Strong disability case management skills
Knowledge of provincial OH&S legislation
Knowledge of remote work environment issues
Advanced computer literacy

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following desirable qualifications:

Occupational Health certification
Occupational Health Nursing experience in oil and gas industry
Current clinical practice
Audiometry certification
Spirometry certification
Experience in emergency room, critical or ambulatory care
Certification in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) at the health care provider level
Certification Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Venipuncture
