The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
NVH Test Facilities are a function within Engineering Technical Services (ETS). The function primarily supports Level 1 attribute Noise Vibration and Harshness and Powertrain NVH.

NVH VSAC facilities on both Gaydon and Whitley sites are supported by teams of fitters and engineers who will prepare vehicles with instrumentation and components as required prior to testing. The team apply test procedures in accordance with the engineering requirements for VSAC dynamic or static testing and present results to the customer.

Our vehicle semi anechoic chambers are used to perform:

• Acquisition/analysis of noise and vibration data.
• Vehicle component assessment and development.
• Acquisition of data for noise and vibration route tracking exercises
• Vehicle exterior noise development work carried out for legislation compliance

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the departmental Supervisor within the NVH Facility team – the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Running NVH Rolling roads – on a 2 shift basis – conducting measurements supporting attribute development.
o Whitley Shift Pattern - Monday to Thursday - 6am to 2pm and 1:30pm to 9:30pm, Friday 6am to 1pm and 12:30pm to 7:30pm
o Gaydon Shift Pattern - Monday to Thursday – 6am to 2:05pm and 1:40pm to 9:45pm, Friday 6am to 12pm and 11am – 5pm.
• Planning and execution of a wide range of vehicle level NVH testing. Covering planning, vehicle preparation, testing on a 4wd rolling road, results analysis and reporting with strong, customer focussed delivery.
• Maintain high levels of facility utilisation and effectiveness.
• Direct test programs using the combined skills of data acquisition and signal processing.
• Use an in depth understanding of prototype vehicles and power units to constantly improve the product.
• Ensuring safe working practices are used and an exemplary standard of health and safety awareness is maintained.
• Identify root causes of interior or exterior NVH problems, establish design changes required to resolve them and validate any proposed solution

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• PC literate, knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
• The successful candidate will be an effective communicator and have strong organisational, analytical and problem solving skills.
• Flexibility in being prepared to work at Whitley or Gaydon depending on requirements.
• Applicants should be qualified to Degree level or equivalent, fitting experience is highly desirable.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Experience of running 4wd chassis dynamometers is essential.
• Experience of data collection and validation using LMS type systems
• Experience in the field of vehicle level evaluation and prototype vehicle testing and development.
• Proven record of successful delivery of project work on vehicle programmes and able to deliver data against tight project timelines.
• An understanding of Engineering Standards and Test Procedures would be beneficial.
