The Company:
Our client is an International Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Company with operations in 16 countries and is the largest operator in the Southern North Sea.

The Role:
Based in Great Yarmouth this role is responsible for developing and setting standards across UK Southern North Sea Operations for occupational health and hygiene management. The successful applicant will lead and work with the medics at all onshore and offshore operations to implement a programme of continual improvement and standardisation of our occupational health management and reporting processes.
Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with relevant statutory provisions, codes of practice, good practice and industry guidelines and promoting a positive approach to health and well-being within the business.
Key responsibilities not limited to but will include:
• Review existing contracts for the provision of occupational health support to ensure we are getting effective support and full benefit from existing arrangements. Propose an improvement plan if required for consolidation and standardisation of these services.
• Work with the Medic/HSEA and onshore QSHE Department to develop, review and maintain the Occupational Health Standards, Guidelines and Procedures which form part of the SNS HSE Management System.
• Develop and Implement relevant occupational health and industrial hygiene plans, programs and surveys for the operation, i.e. asbestos, hazardous substances management, noise and vibration management, Legionella, light and radiation etc.
• Provide input to engineering teams to assist in the elimination, control or mitigation of potential health hazards due to chemical, physical, biological, ergonomic or psychological-social factors during facilities design, construction and commissioning phases.
• Work with catering contractors to ensure that food hygiene standards are maintained through competent persons working to suitable procedures at all sites.
• Establish a network of external consultant's for specific hygiene programs/advice;
• Participate in Health Risk Assessment, HAZID and HAZOP workshops as required for onshore and offshore facilities during the design, construction, operations, commissioning and decommissioning phases.
• Review and evaluate plans and procedures developed by Contractors to eliminate, control or mitigate potential health hazards due to chemical, physical, biological, ergonomic or psycho-social factors.
• Ensure adequate assurance processes (inspections and audits) are undertaken of all operational sites (including onshore support centres and NUIs) covering the full range of occupational health and hygiene standards, guidelines and procedures. Ensure coverage of accommodation, welfare and food preparation areas.
• Work with the HR team to implement and monitor a programme for DSE assessment and review.
• Work with the HR Team to co-ordinate a Health, Work and Wellbeing initiative including review and monitoring of long-term sickness absence and a planned return to work programme and ongoing health surveillance for persons with known problems (such as noise damage, 1st stage HAVS or occupational skin disorders).
• Medical Management
• Provide occupational hygiene advice on specialised PPE, specific control measures, policies, procedures, work methods and general occupational hygiene risk management and compliance
• Act as a focal point and liaison for all Medic/HSEAs on medical, occupational health and hygiene matters, liaising with the competent occupational health physician and Onshore H&S Advisors to ensure the medical competencies of the Medic/HSEA role are sufficient and maintained.
• Develop and maintain a suitable suite of Medical, Occupational Health and Hygiene Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for the business.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• HND / Diploma in Industrial Hygiene and a strong knowledge of Occupational health.
• Ideally 5 years+ Oil and Gas Experience
• Registered General Nurse or Occupational Health Nurse
• Good Leadership skills
• The ability to communicate and interact at all levels including Senior Management
• Manage relationships across the business and with the HSE
