The Company:
Our major oil & gas client is seeking an Occupational Health Professional for an opportunity in Iraq.

The Role:
MAIN FUNCTIONS:
• Co-ordinate and assist with the implementation of the Project Health Plan covering food, potable water, hygiene (industrial and personal), sanitation, public health disease control, medical and emergency response requirements for the Project.
• Develop standards, procedures, guidelines and training to support Project contractors in line with the Project Health Plan
• Support identification, mitigation and control of project health risks; develop audit and inspection schedule of project and contractor health project plan activities to ensure compliance and corrective actions implemented.
• Monitor and facilitate execution with contractor’s health and safety policy, rules, and procedures; and monitor conformance with project and site health and safety execution plans and implement improvements where appropriate.
• Advise site management and other teams (company, contractor, and subcontractors) of company, contractor, and local authorities’ public health and safety requirements, regulations, expectations, and best practices.
• Collect, analyze data, report on, and provide recommendations on health initiatives as per the Project Health Plan and subsequent project and contractor performance and compliance.
• Identify and assist with prioritization of opportunities for site health improvements.
• Establish project training program in food, hygiene and other health related areas and train selected project personnel to provide such training; provide subject matter expert / mentor to contractor / project personnel.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Promote health awareness and health performance in line with the Project Health Plan, among project team members, including consultants, Company and contractor personnel.
• Develop protocols and conduct Industrial Hygiene sampling.
• Conduct regular health inspections/assessments on-site and at key off-site subcontractor locations in accordance with established project and site health and safety plans or as requested by site team members.
• Identify and work to eliminate health risks, unsafe conditions, or unsafe practices; work with company, contractor, and subcontractor management toward achieving a healthy and functional work place.
• Ensure site management apprised of significant health risks/safety issues and plans/progress towards resolving issues and eliminating hazards.
• Communicate health initiatives, achievements, experiences, and issues from other sites and projects with site team members and contractor/subcontractor safety and health advisors/management.
• Participate in investigation and follow-up of illness outbreaks/disease/incidents/accidents; prepare notifications/reports for communication of significant incidents to company project/functional management per project incident reporting procedures and matrix.
• Coach and advise contractor/subcontractor health professionals in incident investigation, documentation, reporting, and follow-up, including root cause analysis and case management.
• Monitor work processes to ensure compliance with the health requirements.
• Ensure Project Health Plan implementation milestones, such as policies, procedures, management plans, training, and systems that will have a health impact on outcome of projects, are completed.
• Provide health training as required to work teams and contractors on health related work programs.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• University level Industrial Hygiene education or equivalent.
• Public Health education/background experiences a plus.
• Practical experience gained in remote or desert condition a plus.
• Minimum 5 years in field industrial hygiene and public health related advisory or regulatory positions, incorporating industrial hygiene planning, sampling, health related policy, procedures and standards development, system implementation and training.
• Vector-borne and public health disease control and prevention, potable water, hygiene and sanitation systems and subsequent management requirements.
• Sound knowledge of industrial hygiene, safety, medical and emergency response systems and requirements.
• Prepare and deliver health and safety training as required.
• Workplace health and safety experience in a construction environment (urban and remote / desert) project.
