The Role:
Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to provide the in-house level of expertise required, in the discipline of offshore marine assurance and operations support, to effectively mitigate the risks associated with offshore marine activities in support of exploration and production & offshore construction through the establishment of sound and robust assurance processes.
The jobholder shall provide specialist advice and support, on all offshore marine activities to GS, Assets, Projects, Well Engineering, and Exploration and Production Operations primarily in the Europe and Africa region.
This position is Reading (UK) based and under the Direction of the Offshore Marine Quality Assurance Manager, the position will assist in the effective implementation of the companies Offshore Marine Assurance and Offshore Marine Operations Standards within directly operated and joint venture offshore assets and projects in accordance with Group policy.
The position will also be responsible for the auditing and approval of all 3rd Party Offshore Marine Assurance Contractors employed by the Company.

Key Accountabilities
• To deliver Global Shipping’s offshore marine assurance and operations support for all current marine activities within assets engaged in offshore projects and Exploration and Production operations; delivering marine assurance support associated with new development opportunities.
• Auditing and verification of all marine assurance contractors utilised within the region.
• Assist in the development and implementation of all Company Standards, regulatory and procedural requirements related to offshore marine activities.
• Assist in the development and/or review of asset and project marine assurance and operations oversight plans ensuring the exposure of marine risks within VAF peer assists, readiness and functional reviews.
• Assist assets & projects to develop and implement marine assurance/marine operations procedures and work instructions.
• Provide technical expertise and leadership in the tendering, evaluation, selection and start-up of contracted services for offshore marine assurance & operations support activities.
• Act as a liaison between the regional asset/project Marine Specialists (Offshore) (MSO) and the Maritime Function.
• Provide training for regional asset/project MSO specifically related to Group marine governance & assurance requirements. Support the Offshore Marine Quality Assurance Manager with future enhancements to the MSO Training program.
• Interface with international, national, and other local regulatory bodies and organizations on all matters pertaining to offshore marine activities.
• Provide support to ensure offshore marine related incidents are fully investigated in accordance with the Companies Standards.
• Provide marine expertise in contingency planning and emergency response for offshore marine related activities.
• Support the Head of Maritime Function in the dispensation process for compliance with the Company Offshore Marine Standards.
• Support the relationship between Company and the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) and the Oil Company International Marine Forum (OCIMF) Offshore Vessel Inspection Database (OVID).
• Ensure that all requirements of the offshore vessel vetting & assurance process is followed prior to approving any vessel on hire to the Group and that all required data is entered into Shipnet.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Marine related education and experience within offshore marine related activities and demonstrating a skilful application in this field.
• Knowledge in marine industry best practices for quality and safety management systems related to vessel management.
• Familiarity with the quality process and experience developing, implementing, and/or using quality or safety management systems consistent with the ISO 9000, 14000, and/or OSHAS18001 international standards and the International Safety Management Code (ISM) is essential.
• Familiarity with international travel is essential.
• Experience as senior officer / OIM, Barge Supervisor or DP Operator experience aboard various classes of offshore vessels or drilling rigs.
• Recent experience as a Marine/Engineering Superintendent or Manager in the offshore industry.
• Strong track record of HSSE leadership in marine related activities.
• Knowledge of offshore marine warranty surveying, Classification Society surveys and/or ves
