The Role:
Position Overview and Responsibilities:


To ensure that all well operations are conducted in a safe and efficient manner and in compliance with Company HS&E Policy.
To be familiar with the contents of the Company Safety Management System, Emergency Response Procedures, project Interface Document, and Oil Spill Contingency Plan.
To encourage and actively participate in the safety systems and initiatives current on the installation. This will include the attendance and participation in weekly safety meetings.
To be involved in / lead all well related incident / accident investigations ensuring accurate and timely reporting through the correct channels to onshore management.
To ensure operations are conducted in compliance with current legislative requirements.
To ensure proper planning of all operations to minimise risks to acceptable level


To ensure all well operations are conducted in accordance with the approved Programme and in compliance with:
Current Statutory requirements.
Good oilfield practice.
To co-ordinate and supervise the activities of the drilling contractor and service companies to ensure programmed objectives are met in a cost effective manner.
To supervise the management of all well related events and to inform the Well Construction Superintendent at an early stage of development of a situation to ensure that appropriate expertise is employed in it’s resolution.
To manage the logistics of the drilling operation in an efficient manner by:
Ensuring service personnel are requested and arrive at the rig in a timely manner and that they depart the rig on completion of their work scope.
Ensuring that materials and rental equipment arrive at the rig in a timely manner and that rental equipment is discharged from the rig promptly when no longer required.
To ensure the drilling contractor and service companies are fully briefed as to the forward programme which will include at least one formal meeting per day.
To prepare written instructions to supplement the approved programme. These instructions will be signed off by the Drilling Supervisor and Senior Toolpusher before being issued and will be retained in the well file for auditing purposes.
To supervise the Offshore Drilling Engineer
To be familiar with the approved programme, and use this to ensure that critical operations are adequately supervised and that potential problems are identified and contingency plans in place.
To ensure all tools and drill string components that are right are fit for purpose and compatible with the well and other components. The Drilling Supervisor should be familiar with and understand the operation of all tools and equipment run through the rotary table and is responsible for ensuring correct operating procedures are followed
To minimise rig downtime and optimise drilling performance. Rig downtime is to be analysed at site. Areas of inefficiency should be identified and brought to the attention of the relevant contractor and Well Construction Superintendent. Details of drilling inefficiency and recommendations are to be reported in the ‘End of Trip Report’.
When working on a platform to liase with other departments to minimise conflicts with other operations, (production, maintenance etc.), to ensure that drilling priorities are promoted and that the implications of delays are understood by the platform OIM
To ensure contractual compliance at the wellsite by the Service Companies. Copies of the major contracts should be held at the wellsite to aid administration. Any contractual ambiguities should be referred to town for clarification.
To track well costs on a daily basis using the Cost Tracking System offshore and report them on the Daily Drilling report. The spreadsheet will be completed by the offshore drilling engineer and transferred into the relevant onshore server directory on a daily

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Candidates will be educated to Degree level or equivalent
Current medical and offshore survival certificates

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Preferably recent North Sea experience

Only candidates who are legally permitted to work in the EU will be considered
