The Company:
Our major Oil & Gas Client is in need of an Offshore Engineering & Construction Surveyor to work in Houston and the Gulf of Mexico.

The Role:
Offshore Engineering & Construction Surveyor - OSR’s primary function is to ensure compliance with the survey & positioning requirements, by continuously monitoring the services provided to the Client organization. To ensure customer requirements are met and customer risks are managed, with special emphasis on HSE, asset and information integrity.

Dimensions

a) Knowledgeable / familiar with surface positioning systems (GNSS, DGNSS).
b) Knowledgeable / familiar with subsea acoustic positioning systems (LBL, USBL).
c) Offshore knowledge and experience in surveying services for Engineering & Construction operations (such as prelay surveys, asbuilt
surveys, jumper/spoolpiece metrology, infrastructure installation, etc)
d) Activities include office planning and offshore oversight of survey / positioning contractors onboard ROV survey vessels.
e) One or more offshore survey contractor staff will report to the OSR.
f) Familiar with survey systems and QA/QC from processed data for independent checks.
g) Familiar with Marine vessels, ROVs, and offshore operations.
h) The role is HSE critical. In addition to the direct exposure of the survey crew during execution, the realtime positioning data acquired during these surveys is used to design subsea developments, pipelines, and foundations and must be of the
highest quality to ensure the resulting design is safe and appropriate.

Principal Accountabilities

a) Audit compliance of survey operations with approved procedures in accordance with the contract. Review survey design, applicable
pipeline routing, positioning system design & installation, data interpretation & analysis, ensuring appropriate government,
regulatory, and corporate requirements are met, etc.
b) Review survey procedures developed by the survey contractor and provide input.
c) Participate in Survey Procedure review meetings in the office (Houston), or onboard the Survey Vessel.
d) Monitor mobilization and acceptance trials.
e) Check all positioning equipment’s calibrations to ensure they are operating within manufacturers specifications. Including any vessel
dockside calibration, DGNSS health checks, Gyro calibration, and USBL calibrations for review & approvals.
f) Ensure on-line navigation database is current and complete. Independently check Geodetic Parameters used in the navigation
system.
g) Ensure survey team is fully aware of the required deliverables.
h) Monitor for proper Change Control and Management of Change when procedures are deviated. Verify/Review risk assessments for
planned tasks.
i) Represent Client Geomatics to internal and external customers including governmental authorities, partners, and contractors
regarding survey issues both technical and regulatory.
j) Understand the management tools used to maintain health, safety and environmental standards.
k) Familiarize with the operational and emergency procedures at a particular worksite and the available logistic arrangements.
l) Promote and preserve HSE through appropriate planning, auditing, inspections, and participation in HEMP, HAZID, and HAZOP, etc.

m) Ensure active participation in job safety analyses, or tool box talks briefing, so that risks and hazards are adequately addressed.
n) Familiarize with the project’s operations and other facilities or potential SIMOPs in the area during execution.
o) Familiarize with environmental conditions and operational limitations.
p) Familiarize with Permit to work requirements, and liaise with appropriate focal points.
q) Safeguard Confidentiality of information.
r) Analyze the operational and technical performance of survey resources, identifying the weaknesses and translating into
remedial actions with the aim to improve performance, quality, value and cost effectiveness of services delivered to customers.
s) Post job debrief and feedback regarding relevant information.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Qualifications, Experience and Competence Requirements

a) Geomatics (B.Sc) degree or technical college Survey Certificate/Diploma preferred with relevant Geomatics Operations
experience in the Oil and Gas Business.
b) Offshore management experience. Held client representative role for at least 100 days offshore.
c) Highly motivated individual with effective communication skills in a range of situations.
d) Have a strong business sense coupled with the commitment to deliver step changes in terms of project efficiency and profitability.
e) Needs to be a "self starter" and not afraid to challenge existing norms and to "bounce" ideas around.
f) Individual will be required to have the appropriate certificate, and HSSE training (see list below) prior to going offshore.
