The Role:
Job Summary

Responsible for the planning, co-ordination, execution and supervision of asset integrity inspections for offshore facilities; including the topside structures, pressure system static equipment and pipeline riser inspections.
Responsible to provide forward planning for inspections including access and labour requirements; carry out Topside inspections in accordance with the Written Scheme of Examinations (WSE) in a timely manner. To recommend remedial or preventative actions to the equipment to ensure compliance and future longevity.

Act as an independent inspector, a point of contact and liaison between operations, inspections teams and the Integrity & FM team in support of day to day operational management.

Key Tasks

- Planning – ensure any resources such as standby boat, insulation removal, scaffold etc are available and the relevant OIM, OOE/Field supervisor is aware on any requirements ahead of the planned visit.

- Co-ordination – Review workscopes and identify resources required, ie two and three man abseiling requirements and organise risk assessments for abseiling permits(lvl 3 abseil not a requirement but knowledge of abseil essential.

- Management - Control implementation of inspection and specialist sub contractors; responsible for managing all inspections to ensure value for money is acheived. Responsible for ensuring the health safety and welfare of the subcontractors whilst on asset is met at all time. Act as performing authority under P2W system.

- Inspection Quality & team competence – ensure all inspection reports are fully reviewed for clarity and accuracy; and fulfilment of scope. Ensure inspection teams competence is demonstrable and maintained. Undertake periodic audit of inspection teams and associated contracting companies to ensure required competence is maintained.

- Inspection – Carry out inspections and compile detailed inspection reports to the condition of equipment in accordance with the Written Scheme of Examinations. Control and co-ordinate all inspection activities, ensuring regular feedback pre and post trip with Senior Inspection Engineer and Integrity Engineers.

- NDT - Completing routine Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) to approved procedures; ensure others fulfill required scopes of work to acceptable standards.

- Notification – ensure prompt notification to the relevant Integrity Engineer & Senior Inspection Engineer of any significant integrity concerns determined from inspections.

- Manage costs by controlling spending and promoting a challenging cost culture to ensure we get value from suppliers and contractors.

Safety Critical Tasks

- Immediate recognition of defects & anomalies which represent a serious threat to safety/integrity & timely/appropriate communication, notification and advice to integrity engineers, line management & operations staff as appropriate.

- Risk Management – Understand operational risk to ensure that the client are not taking inappropriate risks in executing their work. This requires a good knowledge of HSE acceptable standards and risk management tools

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The jobholder must have a sound knowledge of inspection and non-destructive testing methods as applied in the Oil and Gas processes.

Be able to maintain acceptable standards, provide timely feedback and guidance on problems or issues identified.

The individual would ideally have an engineering background to HNC standard; have at least UT 3.1/3.2 and MPI Inspection discipline and at least 10 years experience in the oil and gas industry or equivalent.

Good communication skills verbal & written are required. Good supervision and man management skills are essential.
