The Role:
Job Summary

The Offshore Operations Engineer is responsible for the safe co-ordination of all maintenance, repairs and project activities on the compression/NUI installations. To act in place for the Field OIM as and when operationally required.

Key Tasks

Act as onsite contact and liaison point for project work on compression/NUI installations and interface with onshore project managers.

- Manage a team that is flexible, functional and open that can fulfil business objectives.
- Manage field availability to ensure that production requirements are met by prioritising and organising intervention as required.
- Ensure teams maintain critical spares list and that this is maintained for all sites.
- Ensure teams maintain critical materials/chemicals stocks.
- Ensure that activities are conducted in a safe manner and in compliance with company policy, procedures and statutory HSE Requirements.
- Ensure that production requirements are satisfied and equipment downtime is minimised without compromising safety.
- Demonstrate a full understanding and awareness of the function and responsibilities in case of an emergency, as defined in the Emergency Procedure Manual(s) and individual platform Emergency Response Plans.
- Co-ordinate tasks with the other team members within the asset to ensure safety and production requirements are conducted in an appropriate manner.
- Act as stand in for OIM as required or as the development opportunity arises. To stand in as OIM must have attended Management of Major Emergencies & OIM legislation training as a pre-requisition and be assessed offshore.
- Work within the P2W/SIRP process to manage conflicting activities and maintain safe working environment.
- Ensure team members are at a competency level adequate to fulfil their roles and responsibilities.
- Be responsible for leading accident, incident and near miss investigations and report findings.
- Maintain P-Trac verification items, ensuring they are completed in a timely manner


Safety Related Tasks

- Incident and accident investigation – Be part of the incident and investigation team to ensure lessons are learned and manage our reputation with the regulators.
- Safety Leader (Maintain safety culture) – Provide safety leadership to the offshore teams by making the appropriate interventions to prevent unsafe situations or unacceptable risks being taken whilst ensuring work is carried out efficiently. Need to challenge traditional thinking where appropriate.
- Management of change - With a good understanding of the management of change process and based on operational experience, approve plant modification proposals for the more significant offshore modifications. This requires judgement to ensure asset integrity is maintained.
- Compliance - Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental legislation and best practice for all aspects of production operations.
- Risk Management – Understand and manage the offshore operations to ensure that Perenco UK is not taking inappropriate risks in executing their work. This requires a thorough knowledge of HSE acceptable standards, risk management tools and practical operational experience to ensure the correct risk (benefit analysis is carried out).

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Qualification/Experience requirements/Personal attributes

The candidate must possess a very strong operational knowledge of the offshore gas business and have a sound knowledge of engineering, maintenance management principles, planning, logistics and relevant legislation. In addition, the candidate must have strong leadership skills in order to develop others, provide timely feedback and guidance to the Team Leader’s. The candidates must also be able to facilitate change where the tasks are complex, unclear or uncertain.

The candidate will ideally be qualified to a minimum of HNC/HND level, alternatively extensive relevant experience in the offshore industry will be considered.
