The Role:
Safety Advisor will be working in a challenging role that will demand a clear vision of the clients standards, plans and ethics. Safety Advisor will be required to monitor and influence contractor personnel at all levels using a blend of coaching, training and advisory skills.

The Safety Adviser role will demand a good knowledge of onshore and offshore construction activities and the ability to identify and assess risks associated with these.

Demonstrate a strong HSE ethic and lead by example at all times.
Provide HSSE advice and guidance for project stages to provide.
consistency with the overall Project HSSE strategy.
Provide input into the maintenance of the Execute HSSE Plan and tracker.
Work with any 3rd Party contractors to ensure contractors HSSE.
Plan and associated deliverables align with BP expectations and the project HSSE plan.
Understand Permits Licences Applications Notifications and consents (PLANC) requirements as it relates to the scope of work they are assigned to.
Stay Informed of any assigned scope related Project MoCs and advise on any HSSE or Permitting impacts.
Provide support to the Offshore Programme HSSE Team Lead for the preparation of the stage gate Decision Support Packages.
Monitor Contractor’s Management and HSE teams progress against project HSE goals/targets and adherence to the HSSE plan and provide feedback reports.
Stay Informed of any Ops MoCs to determine any HSSE or permitting impacts.
Ensure risk management processes are being implemented on the work site.
Attend contractor tool box talks, pre-shift brief and risk assessment meetings to provide a coaching approach is used to ensure objectives are reached.
Regular intervention (on and offshore) to address HSE performance issues, recognizing both safe and unsafe behavior and conditions.
Become a ‘champion’ for local safety observation systems, incentive schemes and other safety initiatives.
Participate in Incident investigations. Monitor Contractor HSE reporting and investigation outputs to ensure expectations are met and causes are accurately identified and addressed.
Support contractor by monitoring and advising on suitability of HSE training.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Practical HSE experience in high hazard industries.
Experience of working offshore and at onshore site locations.
Working knowledge of HSSE plans and their effective delivery.
NEBOSH General Certificate.
Able to work in isolation with minimal supervision.
Good communicator with the a proven ability to influence people.
Training or experience of applying coaching techniques to safety observations and conversations.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Emergency Response planning/co-ordination.
Awareness of PLANC process.
Understanding of Dutch regulatory requirements.
Safety Observations and Conversations (SOC) or Formal Coaching Training.
Demonstrable knowledge of the risk assessment process.
Technician or Graduate Member of IOSH.
Formal root cause incident investigation training qualification.
