The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, seeks expertise for offshore mega-projects in Canada.

This opportunity is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only. First consideration will be given to residents of Newfoundland & Labrador.

The Role:
MAIN FUNCTIONS:

•Provide safety, security, health and environmental support to the site leadership teams, along with, support to EPC SSH&E teams
•Work with Contractor’s Line Management, Supervisors and Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) organizations to implement the Project and On-Board Safety AND Health Procedures
•Monitor Company’ and Local authorities’ Safety and Health Requirements, Regulations, Expectations, and Best Practices
•Coach Offshore Contractor to establish, communicate, and implement safety expectations and initiatives; monitor and stimulate execution with contractor’s safety policy, rules, and procedures; and monitor conformance with project and site safety execution plans and implement improvements where appropriate
•Identify and assist with prioritization of opportunities for On-board safety process improvements
•Monitor, investigate, identify, and resolve site level SSH&E issues, evaluate metrics, and provide daily/ weekly /reports to responsible line management, Project team, SSH&E Team, and Function as required.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Mentor and work with company and contractors site management and SSH&E organizations to implement project safety programs
• Advise site project team (company, contractor) of company, contractor and local authorities safety requirements, regulations, expectations, and best practices, specifically supporting the site team in meeting CNLOPB regulations.
• Participate in and critique TBTs, JHAs, FLHAs and other site safety tools
• Participate in site safety walks and inspections
• Promote safety awareness and safe performance among project team members, including contractor personnel
• Identify and work to eliminate site hazards, unsafe conditions, and unsafe acts; work with company and contractor management toward achieving an injury free workplace
• Assist in implementation of systematic safety processes to assure compliance with the project safety management system (PSMS) requirements
• Assist in health inspections / assessments as requested by Medicine and Occupational Health (MOH)
• Verify implementation of EPC contractor’s site SSH&E Plan as endorsed by ExxonMobil (EM) project management.
• Provide assistance to and participate in risk assessment as defined in Projects SSH&E Plan
• Provide regular feedback to onshore SSH&E function
• Provide assistance and support to the contractor in organizing and running incident investigations and follow up of incidents, including development of remedial action plans.
• Assist in the preparation of notifications / reports for communication of significant incidents to company project / functional management as per ExxonMobil’s incident reporting procedures and matrix
• Review and / or critique incident and investigation notifications and reports
• Provide support for training, drills, and other matters related to emergency preparedness and response
• Collect and share lessons learned between site and Hebron project sites where appropriate
• Encourage heightened SSH&E awareness and behaviour throughout project site
• Monitor work processes to ensure compliance with the site work permit system (CSE, Isolations, WAH etc..) and area / system responsibilities
• Collect and report SSHE metrics to the site management team and SSH&E function
• Liaise with contractor on site wide safety issues, using teamwork skills to build consensus
• Provide other services by the SSH&E Function, Project leadership team, and Site management as requested
• Provide coaching and mentoring to EPC team, specifically related to skills in approaching others on SSH&E topics, engaging others in SSH&E discussions ( TBTs for example) and active listening of safety concerns
• Provide technical expertise in solving of SSH&E issues, engaging contractor and EM experts as necessary
• Keep site management apprised of significant safety issues and plans/progress towards resolving issues and eliminating hazards
• Advise site team of safety initiatives, issues, challenges, and incident investigations/follow-up
• Coach and advise contractor safety professionals/management in incident investigation documentation, reporting, and follow-up, including root cause analysis and case management

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Prefer college level education or equivalent
• Minimum 10 years relevant industry experience, including strong marine SSH&E background
• Prefer demonstrated work experience in construction safety related oil and gas positions
• Proficient in use of computers and programs such as PowerPoint, Excel and Microsoft Office
• Ability to set priorities and work independently in performing contractor services with an appreciation for ExxonMobil processes and procedures
• Demonstrated ability (through past project successes) to deliver excellence in project SSH&E performance
• Demonstrated ability to develop successful internal and external working relationships with emphasis on interfacing in a team environment
