The Company:
An independent international energy company engaged in exploration and production, oil sands mining and integrated gas.

Looking for a locally based candidate, between 1 - 3 years experience. Graduates maybe considered.

The Role:
This is a 1 year contract position for an Oil Analyst / Economist / Marketing Scheduler / Pipeline Scheduler reporting to the Canadian Crude Oil Marketing Representative. The candidate selected will be responsible for the scheduling and logistics of our crude oil marketing business as well as providing analytical support to the planning/commercial team. This role will provide the candidate with exposure to several key facets of the oil and gas industry and will appeal to those individuals who enjoy working in a fast paced environment with new and varied challenges every day.

As a Oil Analyst / Economist / Marketing Scheduler / Pipeline Scheduler your main duties will involve:
• Nominate and schedule pipeline movements for all of the companies crude oil supply.
• Maintain a supply/demand position, update as required, and work with Marketing Rep and/or external counterparties to balance position between facilities as required.
• Maintain current knowledge of, and ensure compliance with, all regulatory reporting and documentation requirements.
• Develop and maintain excellent relationships with key participants in the Canadian crude oil business.
• Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of North America’s oil pipeline systems.
• Develop and maintain detailed knowledge of AOSP joint venture Mine & Upgrader operations including processes affecting production level, quality and entitlements.
• Work with Accounting on monthly accrual process and to ensure that settlements are accurate and deals are classified correctly for internal reporting.
• Assist in the gathering and analyzing of market fundamentals and intelligence.
• Maintain, evaluate and streamline oil sands project economic models (ie. Mining/In-Situ)
• Assist with the annual budgeting process and various stand-alone project economic analyses.
• Evaluate operator monthly spending trends (OpEx/Capex) to identify, analyze, and recommend cost savings initiatives/opportunities
• Other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
As a Oil Analyst / Economist / Marketing Scheduler / Pipeline Scheduler you will have experience:
• University degree (preferred but not limited to degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting , Engineering)
• Self-starter with superior problem solving and critical thinking expertise coupled with strong communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and networking capabilities
• Initiative and willingness to learn various aspects of the business
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple competing priorities
• Superior working knowledge of MS Office Suite with a focus on PowerPoint and Excel
• Basic understanding of the oil sands industry and project economic analysis would be considered an asset (i.e. NPV; IRR)
• Strong systems/technical skills or the ability to learn new systems quickly and add value to a small team
