The Role:
We have an immediate requirement for an Oil Processing Engineering Specialist to join the Upstream Process Engineering Division within the Process & Control Systems Department based in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. The Upstream Process Engineering Division provides engineering expertise in processing of natural gas and light hydrocarbons, production and stabilization of crude oil, and simulation of pipelines and surge analysis. The Oil Processing Unit is charged with the corporate responsibility for providing high level operations support, capital projects support, and new technologies evaluation and deployment for the entire company crude oil processing network. As an Engineering Specialist you will expected to provide high level engineering support to all the company’s projects and operations in Upstream oil processing.

Conduct economic studies and cost analysis of various crude oil processing options. Audit and review existing gas and oil separation plants and stabilization centers to identify improvement opportunities, potential problems and remedies to existing problems. Provide technical support for operating plants, pipelines and other engineering organizations. Participate in major studies, evaluations and investigations in collaboration with other company and outside organizations related to new and existing crude oil production and stabilization plants. Develop plans for reviewing and incorporating new technologies in company plants. Conduct simulation studies using company licenses process simulations software packages such as HYSYS and Promax. Develop process models for new and existing facilities. Create and update company engineering standards related to the candidate’s field. Lead process design and engineering activities for new projects in conceptual, pre-FEED, FEED and detailed engineering phases. Design and size major process equipment for new facilities in the pre-FEED stage. Mentor and develop young engineers to become specialists. Develop and deliver technical courses related to the candidate’s field for engineers from various operational organizations within the company. Present technical papers at major international conferences and publish papers in reputable oil and gas journals. Support research and pilot plant projects that will enhance the crude production and processing networks. Early involvement in capital projects as part of the front-end-loading (FEL concept) to address process optimization, heat integration and lessons learned. Lead produced water management initiatives through various operational and technological solutions.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have the following experience, competencies and skillsets: A B.S. in Chemical Engineering (master’s degree preferable) from an accredited university. Obtain a Chartered (CEng) or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or registration is highly desirable. Ten years of experience in design, commissioning, troubleshooting and technology development of oil and gas production and processing facilities (including both greenfield and brownfield developments). Extensive knowledge in both technical and economic principles in oil and gas production and processing unit operations. Several years of experience spent in both onshore and offshore oil processing facilities. Must have excellent technical report writing experience and should have presented to an international audience of experts. It is essential you have an excellent command of both written and spoken English.
