The Role:
To provide operational input into the Define and Execute stages of the project to ensure that operability, reliability and
maintainability are built into the design of the facilities.

To manage and co-ordinate the activities required to ensure that the operating Asset is ready to take ownership and safely and efficiently operate the facilities delivered by the project following handover.

Flexibility will be necessary to undertake other duties and responsibilities as considered necessary by the Project Manager

Responsible for compliance with local laws and regulations, the Value Assurance Framework (VAF) and Operations Management System (OMS).


To manage all operational inputs and deliverables during the project lifecycle phases through Define, Execute and into the Operate phase.
•Ensure compliance with the OMS (Policy 2) and Minimum Standard for Operations Assurance in Projects’ which defines the mandated requirements.
•Provide operations input into development of Project Stage Execution Strategies and Plans.
•Participate in Reliability and Maintainability Studies
•Develop and issue the following Philosophies:◦O&M Philosophy
◦Operations Training Philosophy
◦Preservation and Cleanliness Philosophy
◦SIMOPS Philosophy

•Ensure flow assurance philosophies and procedures are built into the operating guidelines or SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) with particular reference to hydrate prevention & mitigation plus avoidance of sand production.
•Liaise periodically with the client's Sand Management Team to ensure current sand issues are communicated within the Project team, as applicable to the specific project.
•Participate in studies/assessments with Operations impacts, e.g. SIMOPS; production chemical requirements; flow assurance; process; lifting.
•Participate in key project development reviews such as Site lay out reviews, P & ID reviews and Model and Constructability Reviews
•Participate in Brownfield Tie-in Studies
•Apply lessons learnt from other Projects to ensure that continuous improvement is obtained in operational delivery quality.
•Liaise with AIBE Project team with regards to work scope and shut-down requirements
•Participate in HSSE-related studies, e.g. HAZOP, HAZID preliminary SIL Assessment; QRA , Safety Case or equivalent; identification of Safety and Environmental Critical Elements and Performance Standards
•Review and provide input into key project documentation such as ESD philosophy, blow down philosophy, vent and drain philosophy, isolation philosophy, pre-commissioning, commissioning and start up philosophy, etc.
•Lead the process for defining the competencies, timing and training regime for resources targeted for maintaining and operating the new equipment
•Keep Onshore and Offshore Operations Team up to date on developments on the project and gather input from the Operations Team for consideration in the Design
•Develop (or review if developed by the EPC contractor) the following operating procedures:
◦Chemical management procedures
◦Input to Commissioning procedures
◦Mechanical Completion and acceptance procedures and process
◦Start-up procedures
◦Work control procedures
◦Develop the following plans:◾Operations Assurance Plan
◾Training & Competency Plan
◦Review commissioning spares, two years recommended operational spares and capital spares.
◦Witness FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests and SATs (Site Acceptance Tests) as appropriate
◦Review and approve Handover Documentation Package
◦Work contractual arrangements to retain critical Vendors through start-up and early operations
◦Ensure that all the business support system such as document management system, inventory management system, warehouse management system, IT systems, CMMS including condition monitoring system, are considered during Design Development
◦Support the development of Construction Work packs and integration into the Asset Planning Systems for Work orders, Work management
•Build relationship with BG Advance Operations Functional Reviewers. Co-ordinate Operations Functional Reviews

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Knowledge of the client's Operations and Safety Management Systems is an asset
•Subsea operations experience would be an asset
•Proven ability to instill trust and respect from colleagues such that they agree to decisions made on their behalf.
•Able to challenge others in a constructive manner and negotiate with internal peers and contractors to
influence decisions or ways of working
•Capacity to coach and mentor Operations and Project personnel.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
•A Degree in Engineering and significant experience in the Oil & Gas or Chemical processing industry and especially in relation to management of change, inspection and maintenance systems.
•Wide and proven experience in all aspects of Oil & Gas operations.
•Knowledge of the Group’s business processes, maintenance and operations philosophies/strategies.
•Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
•Familiar with subsea infrastructure, control systems and operational requirements such as flow assurance aspects.
•Requires computer literacy (good working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software).
•The jobholder requires a strong delivery focus and be able to work effectively and efficiently in a high
pressure environment.
•He / she needs the ability to multi-task effectively, be a good team player and have effective inter-personal
and communication skills.
