The Role:
The Production Team is tasked with operating and maintaining the Productions and Utilities systems on the various offshore platforms. Their objective is to ensure that its systems are operated safely, efficiently and with maximum availability. They are also accountable for efficient and effective preparation of the plant for maintenance and the coaching and training of national staff.
Principle Accountabilities
Planning
1. All members of the team will be expected to contribute to the planning of work activity in a way that maximises
overall efficiency; and to assist other members of the team as required to carry out these plans.

Work Site Activity
2. Carry out watch keeping and condition monitoring to required standards.
3. Deal with breakdowns in a safe and efficient manner.
4. Carry out isolations (if authorised to do so) to the required standards.
5. Provide technical assurance for work carried out.
6. Provide effective cover of control room duties.

Personal/Team Performance Measurement and Improvement
7. Maintain own skills and demonstrate personal competence.
8. In addition to their core competencies, each operator will be expected to have a sufficient awareness of the safe working practices of other disciplines to allow him to assist other members of the team as required.

Communication and Information
9. Active participation in safety briefings and pre-job safety talks
10. Provide quality information concerning aspects of work and equipment to supervisor and colleagues, through conversation, telephone, radio and written reports.

Emergency Response
11. The post holder will be expected to perform Emergency Response duties as defined in the ERP and company standards
Scope
Operation of plant, monitoring & control systems, metering systems and the coaching and training of national staff in their relevant discipline.


Indicative Tasks
Coaching and Developing National Staff
• Understanding and appreciation of different cultures
• Ability to interact with National staff.
• Provide proactive input to training programme to ensure all aspects of national technician development are met.
• Actively encourage national technician development over and above core skills.
• Provide regular feedback to line management regarding trainee progress and requirements.

Planning
• Performing Authority
• Level 2 Gas Testing
• Participate in risk assessments
• Identify Services requirements

Work Site Activity
• Locate, investigate, and repair faults when required.
• Clean up area after completion of work.
• Work site inspection on behalf of the Issuing Authority as required.
• Apply BOSS techniques and working practices during daily activity.
• Carry out planned maintenance routines.
• Update platform documentation as required
• Night shift duties as required.

Performance Measurement and Review
• Enter quality data into Maintenance and other systems, thus maintaining accurate experiences and suggesting proactive improvements.
• Monitor performance of system by the use of watch keeping and proactive routines
• Develop/improve and update proactive and watch keeping routines.
• Identify and progress system modifications.
• Carry out and participate in permit and ICC audits.

Communication and Information
• Attend safety briefings and pre job safety talks and actively participate
• Maintain detailed daily logs.
• Ongoing dialogue with Production Supervisor & other shift.

Safety Critical Tasks
• Carry out required process isolations to BP standards.
• Start up, shutdown, isolation and preparation of plant and equipment for safety and re-instatement and testing.
• Monitoring plant, basic sampling and analysis of fluids for production & environmental monitoring.
• Provide safe and efficient first line response to plant malfunctions.
• Carry out adjustments to the plant as required by the Control Room team.

Environment
• Adjusting plant operating parameters on instructions from supervisor or Lead Tech. to achieve flare consent targets etc.
• Maintaining and operating equipment to minimise potential for fugitive losses and accidental oil/chemical spills.
• Disposing of wastes in compliance with local procedures and objectives and meeting targets for waste handling and reduction.
• Monitoring / measuring production performance to meet environmental monitoring requirements, recording of this performance monitoring, review of performance figures against regulatory and objectives and targets.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
At least 5 years experience as production/operation/engineering technician or equivalent. Good level of basic education, especially Maths and Science (Physics), computer literate. Well developed fault finding capabilities. Good communication and organisation skills. Extensive knowledge of control room equipment. Awareness and commitment to BP environmental expectations.

Demonstrated experience in coaching and training of technicians in training.

A recognised process apprenticeship would be desirable but not essential. English language, spoken and written.

Behaviours
Well developed interpersonal and coaching/training skills, self motivated and able to work with little supervision and strong sense of team involvement

Standards
Good knowledge of OMS, BP Codes and Practices, BOSS and SOC requirements.
