The Role:
PURPOSE
This job description details the responsibilities of the Operations Engineer, reporting to the Plant Manager.
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF ROLE
The Operations Engineer acting as the Accountable Operations Person (AOM) is responsible for supporting the Plant
Manager in delivering SCHPs operating & performance strategy, standards and systems in a safe, effective manner
ensuring that site operations and maintenance activities are completed to meet business, client and legislative
requirements.
MAJOR DUTIES
 Provide line management responsibilities to the Site Operations Team.
 Take a lead role in the development of strategies which effectively support & contribute to the planning &
management of day-to-day & longer-term Operations & Maintenance activities, balancing commercial and
safety considerations.
 Participate in & support plant engineering and maintenance activities including fault diagnosis, outage
planning and execution, problem solving and plant improvement activities.
 Provide out of hours support in line with the site call out rota.
 Support the Plant Manager in developing, communicating and meeting required Operations Standards,
systems, policies, procedures, processes and (K)ey (P)erformance (I)ndicators.
 Where required lead plant safety schemes, reporting and events, providing support where required and
actively implementing any arising recommendations.
 Lead and monitor the application of company safety policies and procedures to ensure continued compliance.
 Assist in the development and continued enhancement of Integrated Management Systems ensuring that all
systems are compliant with all ISO standards and maintained to the highest specifications.
 Supporting the Plant Manager and working with Process Engineering Personnel in developing, delivering and
monitoring operability tools which seek to improve plant performance, availability and efficiency. Supporting
assigned projects where required.
 Supporting engineering and maintenance personnel in the delivery of key site projects, through the provision
of technical advice, input and appropriate resources.
 Organise, prepare, negotiate, manage and evaluate, assigned engineering, operations & maintenance
contracts, ensuring they operate within agreed budgetary requirements, taking action to reduce costs and
overall risk levels.
 Support the maintenance of the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
 Support any planned or unscheduled shutdowns to ensure all operational and maintenance works are
completed in a timely, safe and efficient manner through the planning of work scopes.
 Monitor Emergency Shutdown Design systems, taking control of periodic testing and the design of new
systems.
 Establish strong, effective relationships with all members of the Stallingborough CHP plant, it’s key customers
– internal and external & competent authorities and stakeholders.
 Remain up to date with general and industry best practice, techniques, industry trends & statutory
requirements, including site specifications & document control procedures.
 As required, provide support for out of hours Safety and Operational Matters.
 As required to deputise for the Plant Manager and / or Maintenance Engineer.
