The Role:
• The Operations Geologist reports to the Exploration / Petroleum Engineering /Asset Manager (depending on office set-up and type of wells planned), and is office-based. During the operations phase, the Operations Geologist may also make visits to the Wellsite (depending on location), for example to support the Wellsite Geologist on particular jobs.
• Be responsible for health, safety, security and protection of the environment at the workplace, participate in HSSE trainings according to competency maps, and contribute to integrate HSSE into the company culture
• Act as key point of contact between Drilling & Exploration Teams (and other asset teams, as applicable) at all stages of drilling projects, from early planning through to post-well. Develop timely decisions as required throughout the drilling process by actively involving those teams.
• In early planning be involved in the Procurement process, particularly for evaluation of tenders (eg: mudlogging, coring, logging etc). Make reference to the relevant Company Head office technical contact to ensure the scope of work for these contracts is made with reference to required Company standards.
• In early planning, for future wells, assist in preparation work and write the geological planning documents (eg: Well Design Criteria, Work Program), as required by the Company Well Engineering Process.
• During operations, implement and monitor the geological part of the well program, in cooperation with the Drilling Department, to ensure well objectives are safely met.
• Be responsible for receiving all geological and formation evaluation well data, logs & reports of well operations; be responsible for their distribution to relevant parties (eg: Partners, Company E&P Head Office, Authorities), laboratories, and archive database, as appropriate (including reports, logs, cores, cuttings samples, fluid samples, analysis results, interpretations etc).
• Prepare daily geological update for Branch Office Daily Well Operations Meeting. Prepare geological updates for management reports, as required. This may be in the form of word and excel reports and GEO logs.
• Liaise with geological formation evaluation contractors, and support functions in Company (eg: Petrophysics, Laboratory, VSP expert) as required throughout the well; and in discussion with the Drilling team, support their call out for work.
• Support Drilling/Operations department with procurement issues during operations, and invoice-checking of geological and formation evaluation contractors, as required.
• Contribute to geological and formation evaluation contractors’ service reviews during operations or in post-job performance reviews, as required (mudlogging, coring, logging etc).
• Prepare geological part (includes all formation evaluation) for ‘Final Well Report’, which includes a GEO Composite Log. Compile an Operations Geology Lessons Learnt document.
• Participate in all extra well-related meetings as required (eg: Pre-spud meetings, Lessons Learned meetings).

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• BSc (Hons) or MSc Geology
• 5 – 10 years of relevant industry experience
• Minimum 5 years in a position as production/ development geologist with an O&G company or a consulting service company
• In addition practical experience as mud logger, wellsite geologist is beneficial
