The Role:
Our Client is looking for an Operations Geology Lead to join their team in Angola.

The position would be working on 28/28 rotation and approximate start would be September 2014.

Key accountabilities:
• Actively promote and encourage a safe working environment
• Be personally pro-active in participating in Company's safety culture and conform to all HSE requirements. In particular the WSG, use correct PPE, attend safety meetings and contribute to them, capture HSE related lessons learned, watch and act on all Company safety immersion material.
• Ensure all geological contractors perform their duties in a satisfactory manner (support third party NWD contractors managed by Supply Chain Mgt, & cost tracking)
• Monitor all wells while drilling, providing operations geology support, to ensure correct well placement and data capture is delivered as per SoR
• Promote alignment between subsurface (planning – operation - reservoir management ) and wells teams.
• Support all operational calls – escalate as necessary (directional drilling, casing, coring & termination depth decision making)
• Ensuring transfer of learnings from wells back into future planning & future Company operated projects (ownership of all NDS issues during planning & execution phases, borehole pressure / stability assessment / Distinct Permeable Zone assessment)
• Preparation of geological operations programmes (contribute to well selection process and well planning) and final geological well reports.

Key Deliverables:
• SOR / BOD & Well Proposal documents
• Optimized well locations
• Geologic Operation Plan & drilling programme input
• Ensure decision trees for critical operations are prepared
• Coordinate data tracking & maintain subsurface key learning’s register
• Stage gate, peer review & partner presentations
• Contribute to well AFE documents
• Data acquisition & Coring programmes
• Visualization tools for planning & real-time decision making
• Subsurface well objectives
• QC End of well reports & composite logs generated by Ops Geologist / Well Site Geologist
• Ensure data distribution is timely and complete

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Depth of experience in Operations Geology and operational input into well planning.
• Extensive experience of geological operations in turbidite and carbonate reservoirs
• Demonstrated in depth experience working with multi-disciplinary teams (particularly Drilling & Completions).
• Experience of well planning processes and compiling subsurface reports and completion logs.
• Personal commitment and proactive approach to HSSE.
