The Company:
Our client is a major Oil and Gas company

The Role:
The primary purpose of a Technical Authority is the safeguarding of technical integrity on facilities by defining the Frame Work to act safely.
• The Technical Authority is a senior specialist role within the company and will be a recognised subject matter expert for the Instrument discipline.
• The Technical Authority will provide direct and impartial feedback on the integrity status of facilities.
• Key role in ensuring that the risks associated with Major Accident Hazards are fully understood and are being effectively managed.
• The Technical Authority will support and share the companies drive for technical excellence

Key Responsibilities
• Technical Authority for systems and technology within the Instrument discipline
• Providing expert technical advice to onshore support organizations.
• Ensure an appropriate suite of technical standards and procedures within discipline are in-place.
• Approve or reject requests for deviations from their discipline technical standards and procedures and ensure these are assessed for risk and documented for action.
• Ownership (develop, manage and review) of Performance Standards of Safety Critical Elements (SCEs) in support of the Verification Scheme, proactively monitor SCEs for compliance and for addressing any SCE performance issues with the Asset Teams.
• Review failures associated with systems, equipment / SCEs within discipline and lead or participate in associated investigations / Root Cause Analysis. .
• Provide guidance, mentoring and training across the installations where required.
• Carry out regular installation site visits to liaise with personnel.
• Accountable for ensuring that the equipment and facilities delivered is in accordance with the discipline standards.
• Arranging the provision and management of third party services and equipment where appropriate.
• Individual projects and initiatives on behalf of the operations group as required.
• Carry out audits and participate in incident investigations as required.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Good understanding of onshore - CPF operations
• Familiar with UK industry regulations relating to the oil and gas industry and of dealing with HSE
• Effective relationship-builder at all levels, internally and externally
• Effective communicator both written and verbal
• Relevant Engineering Degree within Discipline
• Preferable Chartered Engineer
Previous experience in working in Algeria
