The Company:
Our Client is a leading Energy Operating Company conducting business globally. They now have a requirement for an Operations Specialist.

The Role:
The role involves Strategy, Technology & Commercial Integration operating global trading business. Through its trading business units. The London office concentrates on physical trading for Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, including US arbitrages. Trading in oil paper derivatives is also a core function.
The candidate will be from an Operational, Crude Oil/Shipping background,

Key Job Responsibilities;
Dealing with all operational processes related to purchases and sales of crude oil including:
• Working closely with traders once deals are concluded
• Liaising with counterparts in other oil companies regarding documents and requirements for cargoes
• Working with equity terminals which supply crude oil
• Handling operational issues - preventing production shut ins and refinery run outs, minimising demurrage and deadfreight
• Working with vetting to clear vessels
• Appointing inspectors for quality and quantity
• Liaising with credit department if letters of credit are required
• Entering key cargo data into the trading system and liaising with finance
Depending upon experience, other responsibilities may include:
• Conducting analysis of logistics for efficiencies or commercial opportunities to maintain maximum asset utilization
• Identifying new strategic relationships and business opportunities
• Lead project teams, or participate in projects

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Attentive to detail – careful about details, thorough in completing work tasks, ability to discern discrepancies in data and reports
• Multi-tasking and highly organised – facilitates analysis and resolution of multiple problems with critical timelines and multiple teams. Required to handle multiple complex and challenging operational issues
• Industry Knowledge - has understanding of industry standards and their commercial impact, as well as, market trends/drivers, competitor markets, terminals, logistics and refinery operations in area of responsibility
• Commodities Trading Knowledge - sufficient knowledge of specific area logistical information and specific market knowledge to enable commercial groups in executing strategies
• Collaborative – works well with multiple groups including other business units and higher levels of management
• Stress tolerant – responds constructively to challenges, works well in high-stress situations
• Complex thinking – not solely driven by v

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) preferred but not essential
