The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, requires expertise for their ongoing oil sands mega-projects in Alberta.

This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

The Role:
• Monitor and appraise construction work in the specific area of his/her discipline for conformance with engineering drawings, design specifications, owner’s standards, safe work practices, and applicable codes by spot-checking actual work performance
• Review and appraise contractor’s construction planning and scheduling
• Evaluate performance of the contactor’s construction organization and supervisor personnel, suggesting remedial steps where deficiencies are noted
• Review and submit to owner, discipline related change requests
• Compile inspection records and QC documentation for turnover to operating organization
• Interface with quality personnel
• Authorize work permits
• Facilitate and participate in Quality Audits
• Verify and monitor care and custody of owner supplied materials and equipment delivered to construction contractor
• Verify transfer of surplus materials (owner and contractor supplied) near end of assigned project
• Verify and monitor that construction activities are in compliance with regulatory and environmental approvals.
• Safety Champion
• Monitor site safety performance and appraise construction work in the specific area of his/her discipline
• Ensure necessary corrective actions are taken in areas such as planning and scheduling, cost control, subcontract administration, safety, and quality of the work
• Assurance role acting as owners representative for Quality (adherence to Quality control programs both owner and contractor)
• Actively manage site costs (worker productivity, LEMS including eSES and time charges)
• Communicates and acts on deficiencies and non-conformance.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• High School education
• 5-20 years construction experience
• Strong Civil/Earthwork experience an asset.

• Emergency or Standard First Aid
• H2S and Hydrocarbon Code of Practice
• H2S Alive
• Fall Protection
• Confined Space Entry

Safety Equipment:
• Personal Protective Equipment and FRC clothing as per IOL standards.
