The Company:
Our client specialise in the design, manufacture, assembly, test, installation and commissioning of bespoke solutions for the nuclear decommissioning, defence, and nuclear new build markets.

The Role:
• This role will be reporting to the Commissioning Manager of a major Nuclear project, and will be responsible for managing and operating the company Permit to Work System to support Commissioning Phase of the project.
• Control of records for equipment that has been transferred to the commissioning team via a Safety transfer certificate.
• Control of records for equipment that has been energised or isolated.
• Maintenance of records of prescribed areas.
• Control of equipment and general access keys subject to release of plant that has been Safety Transferred to the Commissioning department.
• Dealing with requests for the Permit Office Services, involving the following:-
- Checking that the Permit requests are properly complete and logging it.
- Assessing the task to reduce the hazards due to the plant itself.
- Identifying Isolations that are required and ensuring that they are safe and secure to carry out work.
- Implementing and managing Isolations and permit energisations, ensuring safety of engineers at all times.
- Deciding what safety documentation, Risk assessments and Permits are required, if any and issuing them.
- Keeping logs, records and status recording systems for the Permit Office up to date.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Minimum HNC
• Minimum of 5 years hands on experience working as a Permit Controller, preferably to Nuclear industry standards
• Working safely in accordance with Permit to Work and Risk assessments, preferred IOSH accredited.
