The Role:
The Pipelines Engineer will be responsible for the design of the gathering system including flowlines, trunk-lines and slug catchers, and 100 km export pipelines. The role will also be accountable for setting up the PIMS.
The role will be located in the offices in Brentford, West London until the end of 2012 at which point the project team is likely to relocate to an EPC contractors offices. The role is expected to transfer to site in Oman.

•Lead pipelines specification and design activities
•Establish the Pipelines Integrity Management System (PIMS) and lead the development of the pipelines corrosion management strategy.
•Implement BP MPcp and Engineering and Quality Management expectations within discipline area
•Oversee engineering quality performance for pipelines
•Ensure pipelines are designed, supplied, installed and commissioned to meet first year operational performance criteria.
•Maintain a clear understanding of planned against actual progress for pipelines engineering and procurement deliverables and intervene where necessary to maintain schedule.
•Oversee the procurement of major pipelines packages including development of criticality assessments, quality plans, requisition specifications, technical bid evaluations and surveillance of manufacturing and test programs
•Ensure suppliers and contractors comply with the safety policies and standards and ensure that the necessary requirements of safety reviews are met during the design process.
•Ensure that the project team works closely with Operations to identify and capture standardisation opportunities so that life cycle costing considerations are fully reflected in mechanical equipment definition.
•Network with other projects and functional experts to facilitate knowledge transfer/lessons learnt
•Technically evaluate request for exceptions/deviations to relevant ETPs standards and specifications and advise the Engineering Manager on technical integrity issues

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Qualified to degree level in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline and Chartered Member of a professional body such as the UK IMechE or equivalent.
•Thorough knowledge of industry standards and ETPs within discipline area
•Proven competence in onshore pipelines design, procurement, construction and operation
•Demonstrable experience of PSCM processes associated with pipelines
•Excellent inter-personnel and leadership skills with the ability to work in a multinational project team and develop strong working relationships with the contractor.
•A willingness to train and develop my client's staff

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• International experience within North Africa or the Middle East would be an advantage.
•Relevant experience in the upstream segment on onshore Oil and Gas facilities
•Previous experience working with a lump sum EPC contractor is desirable.
•Able to cover civil aspects of the pipelines design
•Practical experience of E&P field commissioning and operation
