The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, requires expertise for their mega project in Western Canada.

This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

The Role:
- Knowledge on environmental issues related to the construction of large infrastructure projects in sensitive environments.
- Experience in the construction and operation of large (+400km, +35 inch diameter) pipelines.
- Experience in working in diverse environments, including biologically sensitive, remote, rugged terrains, and high elevation locations.
- Experience in the mitigation and minimization of environmental related impacts during both the construction and operation of large pipeline projects.
- Experience in the development and implementation of state-of-the-art environmental programs to manage environmental performance during pipeline construction, such as the implementation of:
o Waste Management Plans
o Erosion Control & Reinstatement Plans
o Hydrostatic Test Water Management Plans
o Pollution Prevention Plans
o Access Management Plans
o Biorestoration Management Plans
o Ecological Management Plans
o Wildlife Management Plans
o Invasive Species Management Plans
o Compliance Monitoring Plans
o Biodiversity Monitoring Plans
- Experience in internationally recognized environmental best practices related to large pipeline construction.
- Experience in the development and implementation of an integrated environmental, community affairs and health & safety management system for both the construction and operation of large infrastructure projects. This shall include project control plans such as:
o Assurance Plans
o Non Conformance & Corrective Action Procedures
o Management of Change Procedures
- Knowledge in ISO certification ready management systems.
- Skilled in supervising activities of field environmental personnel.
- Proven ability to conduct environmental audits for suitability, adequacy and effectiveness of project activities.
- Proven ability to liaise and establish proactive rapport with construction contractors.
- Experienced in investigating environmental incidents; provide reporting and recommend/follow action(s) to completion.
- Competency in reporting environmental performance to senior management.
- Competency is communicating environmental performance to project stakeholders.
- Competency in liaising with project regulators.

Position Duties:

• Responsible for environmental supervision of pipeline construction activities related to the RoW, access roads, camps, storage yards, and above ground facilities (including compressor station).
• Supervise the effective implementation of the Environmental, Community Affairs, and Health & Safety Management System, ensuring overall compliance with Project standards and commitments as set forth in regulations and the Pipeline Environmental Impact Assessment.
• Assist pipeline contractors in the development of their environmental implementation plans, procedures, and method statements (as required by the ECAHS Management System).
• Supervise the environmental field pipeline team activities.
• Supervise the environmental programs for the pipeline.
• Liaise with pipeline construction contractors.
• Responsible for ensuring all pre-job environmental mitigation measures are fully understood and in place.
• Responsible for ensuring that all induction, general environmental and job specific training is fit for purpose.
• Responsible for schedule of environmental inspections, audits and day to day monitoring of work of contractors and consultants. Also for ensuring that inspections, audits and monitoring is carried out according to schedule.
• Investigate minor and significant environmental incidents, provide report and monitor recommended actions to completion.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Biology / Environmental Mgt. / Engineering
- Self-starter on assigned duties
- Good business acumen, personal ethics, and integrity above reproach
- Minimum 10 years environmental oversight/supervision within Oil and Gas industry
- Fundamental awareness/understanding of pipelines
- Good writing skills
- Good communication skills
- Good management skills, including knowledge of managing large teams, large budgets
