The Role:
• Support the pursuit of project opportunities and identify the resources and training necessary. May participate in early development of strategy, implementation and execution phases.
• Identify applications for existing and new technologies, and communicate best practices throughout the team.
• Establish goals and objectives for engineering operations and make operational decisions.
• Oversee and direct key areas of discipline engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements and current good engineering practice.
• Understand clients' needs; independently evaluate, organise and prioritise work for self and others.
• Oversee production of deliverables, which may include engineering support to DO, design calculations, specifications, procedures, analyses, progress reports, bid evaluations, study reports and various 3rd-party submissions.
• Sign and issue technical documentation as approver, accepting personal responsibility for its adequacy.
• Provide leadership for all engineers in group to ensure the delivery of quality work.
• Manage and participate in technical audits of projects and studies.
• Develop manhour estimates and subsequent engineering schedule for implementation to suit overall project plan, taking responsibility for delivery.
• Manage internal and external engineering interfaces.
• Ensure adequate engineering input to procurement activities.
Develop & manage manhour estimates and engineering schedule both historical (as spent) but also to have an accurate forecast of what is required to complete workscopes.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Degree Qualified are essential
Commitment to CPD is essential
Chartered Engineer is desirable

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Ability to lead a design team across multiple projects is essential
Experience of managing design teams is essential
Ability to manage interfaces, including other disciplines, drawing office, document control, project management, client and suppliers is essential
