The Company:
A leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on developing its world-class reserves for domestic and international supply.

The Role:
We have been asked to source a Contracts Engineer to join our international project owner / operator client as they progress forward with their Coal Seam Gas project here in Queensland. The successful candidate will support civil work associated with the construction of facilities, specialising in Oil & Gas pipeline contracts.

Joining them at an integral time, the incumbent will work with the Lead Contracts Engineer to establish execution plans for the department and manage the contract review process. Working within a larger team, the successful candidate will report directly to the Pipelines Contracts Manager under the leadership of the Contracts and Procurement Manager for the project. This role has one direct report and peers include other Contract Engineers.

You will be responsible for:
• Compiling Invitation to Tenders and Evaluation Procedures, to implement project execution strategies and Contract Plans
• Coordinating the bidding, evaluation and award process, in accordance with agreed plans and company procedures
• Responsible for post award contracts administration
• Managing contractual matters and preparing commercial / contractual correspondence during the implementation of the contracts
• Ensuring tracking systems are maintained for all contractual correspondence
• Maintaining tracking registers of Contract Values and VOs

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Associate of the Royal Institute Chartered Surveyors (RICS), or equivalent
• C&P experience in a similar role on major oil and gas projects, focusing on contract formation for large pipeline projects
• Experience in developing and executing contract strategies and plans, formulating and administering different contract types including EPCM, lump sum EPIC, EPC, Unit Rate and reimbursable contracts in particular
• Experience in negotiating Contractual and Insurance Claims

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Formal QS or Legal training
