The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, requires expertise for their ongoing oil sands mega-projects in Alberta.

This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

The Role:
The Piping Engineer is responsible for providing piping discipline support to the Project. Aids in the development of project deliverables according to the Company Engineering processes and procedures. The piping Engineer will work with Company toolkits and Global Practices and how they apply to Canadian Projects. The Piping Engineer works with all Project teams to ensure communication and lessons learned are shared appropriately to prevent rework and maximize the efficiency of the organization.

• Provide engineering surveillance support to individual projects as needed

• Utilize Company resources (ie, toolkits) to refine project deliverables

• Review, evaluate, and advise:
o Piping, pipeline specifications
o Compliance with design methods and safety factors to be used in design of project. As needed by project teams, assist in reviews of completed contractor deliverables for correctness, compliance, and operability
o Operability of the unit or plant for start up, normal, turndown, and shutdown modes. Reviews basis for abnormal operating conditions
o Engineering scope of work for tender packages / contracts

• Participate in HAZOP and other design reviews

• Facilitate communication of lessons learned between individual Project teams

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with 7+ years of experience in a similar role on major/mega projects
• Knowledge of large-owner/operator Processes, Procedures, and Toolkits helpful
• Thorough knowledge and judgment in the selection and application of static mechanical equipment and plot plan development
• Applicable codes, standards, and trade practices
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs
