The Company:
Our client is a major global Oil and Gas EPC management company that can cover small Brownfield projects to major Greenfield projects.
They are a growth company who can serve as a Sole Supplier, Joint Venture or Subcontractor. With a proven track record of delivering large scale complex projects they are a progressive and attractive company.

The Role:
The candidate will be a Senior Piping Engineer with a substantial, recent and proven track record in onshore oil and gas, LNG, refinery, chemical or petrochemical projects and will be able to demonstrate experience, in a similar and relevant position, of FEED and detail design.

Good communication and presentation skills are essential.

The individual will be self-motivated and able to perform all stages of Project Piping engineering including the mechanical design of piping and the specification and selection of piping equipment for both budget pricing and purchase with minimal supervision. Checking of other engineers work will also be expected.

Core Responsibilities:

To undertake Piping Engineering design work with true regard to Safety and in compliance with national and Client Codes & Standards.
Preparation and checking of:
Pipeline Fluid Index
Piping Line Classes
Piping Specifications
Valve and Accessories Data Sheets
Fabrication and Installation Specifications
Testing Specifications
Painting Specifications
External Pipe Coating and Protection Specification
Insulation Specifications, Standard and Calculations
Valves & In-line Accessory MTO's
Requisitions for bulk piping materials, valves and accessories
Technical Bid Analysis for bulk piping materials, valves & in-line accessories
Creating and thereafter maintaining Project Piping Specifications and Standards.
Monitoring the checking, approval and internal and external review of all Project Piping deliverables within his control to ensure that they meet company, project and Client quality requirements.
Assisting with the development of the project purchasing and supply chain strategy and approved vendor lists.
Liaising with Clients, Licensors, other design disciplines and suppliers on technical and other piping design matters on a regular basis and in a professional manner
Providing technical support to the Material Control and Plant Design departments.
When required, supervising piping engineering work that may be executed in other UK offices or Mumbai, India.
When required, supervision of a small team of subordinate Project Piping Engineers, downloading, where necessary and appropriate, project and corporate information, directives and initiatives.
Preparing accurate and reliable progress reports and manhour forecasts for the Lead Piping Engineer.

Specific Accountabilities to include some or all of:

Efficiently executing Piping Engineering work as directed by the Project Lead Piping Engineer or Chief Engineer
Understanding the Codes and Standards applicable to the work carried out and raise deviations where necessary
Maintaining own work progress (budget, schedule)
Identification of contractual scope changes and thereafter assisting with the preparation of accurate Piping Engineering manhour estimates and plans to execute the additional work.
Monitoring the execution of the Project Piping procurement activities within his control to ensure they meet the project programme and delivery deadlines.
Managing and monitoring Vendor Documentation and liaising with Vendors.
Allocation of work to any Project Piping Engineers within his control.
Ensuring that the applicable company systems are used, that the relevant QA procedures and standards are followed and that the piping and layout design within his area of responsibility conforms to contract specific requirements and any applicable Client, company, national and international standards, design codes and legislation and raise deviations where necessary.
Completing work within the estimated manhour budget and in a timely manner to ensure that project deadlines are met, maintaining own work progress (budget and schedule) and identifying scope change where necessary.
Working accurately and always within the provisions and guidelines of the Company Quality Assurance system or that relevant to the Project.
Safety – responsible for personal safety safe working practices for the Project. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Degree (preferred), HND or HNC in Engineering, Chartered or Incorporated Engineer
Significant experience in Petrochemical and Oil & Gas FEED and EPC Design Projects in a similar role with similar international Design Contractors.
Significant experience of relevant piping codes and standards.
Good understanding and working knowledge of the relevant national and international standards, design codes and legislation applicable to process plant piping materials and pipe stressing, particularly ASME B31.3.
