The Role:

Job Title: Piping Engineer
Area of Interest: Engineering

External Description: The Piping Engineer is responsible for providing technical assistance, leadership, and supports the detailed engineering phase of the project.
This position will initially be located at the EPC Contractor’s office and may transition to the site in Hackberry, Louisiana to assist with construction. Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC) will be required.

Audit detailed EPC designs for piping engineering.

Oversee and manage EPC Contractor’s piping construction activities.

Ensure that the piping engineering design and implementation are safe, perform the requirements of the design, and meet the Project Specifications

Attend Kick-off, Detailed Design, Model Reviews, Pre-Inspection Meetings

Participate in Process HAZID and HAZOP analysis as needed

Interface with EPC counterparts and other EPC and Client disciplines on a project task force

Interface with EPC Contractor and vendor on a regular basis

Attend and participate in regular Contractor construction meetings

Track construction schedule and progress to ensure overall project schedule compliance

Stay abreast of current Piping Equipment developments thru participation in Industry technical shows and committees Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties)

External Qualifications:

Require a bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical discipline


Require a minimum of 5 years of experience in the energy industry with 2 to 3 years in the Oil and Gas Industry. Experience in Cold and cryogenic piping is an advantage.


Familiarity and ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical diagrams, including flow charts, cause/effect diagrams, and Piping and Instrument Drawings (P&IDs).

Good communication skills due to significant interfaces with Contractor

Must have a good working knowledge of API, ASME, ANSI, PIP and other process industry codes and standards.

Conversant in Auto-CAD and Micro-Station

Ability to maintain multiple assignments with various deadlines and responsibility levels concurrently

Ability to communicate in a professional and effective manner, including in-person, telephone, and E-mail

Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Demonstrated proficiency in referencing, researching, reporting, tracking and monitoring of activities and documents

Ability to work independently and function with limited supervision

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)

Travel 25% required, with extended periods of time spent in certain locations depending on work demands
