The Role:
Typically reports to the Engineering Manager (Offshore) and a Project Manager, or Project Engineering Manager, if seconded to a project as a Lead Engineer.

Position Summary:

•Has experience in the oil / gas, offshore and is recognized as a specialist in the specific engineering field of topsides offshore piping on large to mega projects.
•Prepares and reviews engineering studies, design drawings, documents, and material and equipment specifications.
•Resolves specialty related engineering issues by applying accepted principles, codes, and standards.
•Must have thorough knowledge of engineering practices and economic principles, calculation methods, design details, international codes and standards, procedures and specifications.

Responsibilities:
•Perform and/or oversee all Piping Stress Analysis, assuring compliance with all applicable codes pertaining to piping systems and strain sensitive equipment.
•Oversee the work of other Piping Engineering personnel. Provide direction and guidance to the Piping Engineering Team.
•Prepare man-hour estimates for all Piping Engineering activities.
•Schedule, track, and forecast Piping Engineering activities.
•Manage man-hour expenditures for Piping Engineering.
•Produce required project reporting for Piping Engineering.
•Ensure coordination with other in-house departments.
•Develop and maintain list of lines to be stress analyzed.
•Develop and maintain spring support list.
•Perform wall thickness and branch reinforcing calculations.
•Prepare requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and supplier document review for spring supports and expansion joints.
•Perform thorough review of relevant vendor information.
•Provide a timely internal check of drawings produced by other MHDP disciplines.
•Incorporate MHDP procedures and standards into design as applicable

Additional Requirements:

Visits to offshore facilities for surveys.
Lifting and carrying offshore.
Inspection trips
Leadership experience or proven leadership skills.
Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASME, ASTM, ANSI, API, etc.).
Should be proficient in Microsoft office software (Word and Excel) and Company purchased and in house created software such as Caesar II. Should also be familiar with editing, opening and reading drawings in Microstation and working with SP3D 3D CAD system on projects. Should be familiar with responding to e-Mails & doing all necessary actions as required.
May be assigned as a Discipline Technical Authority (DTA); a person identified as an overall technically competent team member able to address technically complex issues & mentor team members with their technical work.
May be assigned as a Subject Matter Expert (SME); a person recognized to possess a high degree of knowledge on a particular subject and/or piece of equipment.
May be assigned as Lead Piping Engineer on a project, reporting to the Project Manager.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•BSc Engineering degree or equivalent from a recognized Institution.
•Fellow or Corporate Member of a recognized Mechanical chartered professional body.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
MSc degree preferred.
