The Role:
The Senior Instrument Engineer will be assigned responsibility for particular units of work or project streams and for these workscopes shall:

• Ensure customer satisfaction is achieved for the Instrument design

• Ensure Instrument design is completed on time and on budget

• Ensure best practice is utilised where ever possible

• Ensure local staff are utilised, trained and developed

• Ensure company are not exposed to unethical work practices

• Ensure company maximise contract potential

• Encourage “ Right first Time” engineering service to customer

• Ensure that all work is exercised in such a manner that safety is not compromised
• Preparation of Instrument design deliverables, including studies, detail design deliverables and close out

• Checking of Instrument design deliverables as requested by the Principal Instrument Engineer

• Coaching of junior Instrument engineering staff

• Deputise for the Principal Instrument Engineer during periods when the Principal is out of the office

• Preparing Instrument manhour estimates, CTRs and input to schedule on units/projects for which Senior Engineer is responsible

• Tracking Instrument budget and schedule on units/projects for which Senior Engineer is responsible

• Participation in project design and safety reviews
• Liaise with other disciplines to ensure overall design quality, budget and schedule is met

• Liaise with procurement for purchase and expediting of equipment and materials

• Ensure safety in design and construction by participation in Hazids, Hazops, Constructability Reviews TRA etc

• Liaise with project engineer and planning department to track schedule and Instrument manpower requirements
• Liaise directly with customer single point of contact (SPOC) / Instrument engineer on Instrument aspects of the unit of work

• Liaise with BP Operations for Ops input to Instrument design (where applicable)

• Liaise with other company's offices for engineering support

• Liaison with sub-contractors and vendors

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Must have good communication skills

• Must have good organisational skills to scope, plan and execute Instrument designs on multiple units of work

• Must be able to coach and mentor local graduates

• Ideally should have knowledge of AMEC standards and procedures and key discipline contacts in UK office

• Must have delivery focus

• Good understanding of client drivers
