The Company:
Our client is an Engineering Services company, who are an international technical consultancy, providing a range of services including licence to operate, asset management, manufacturing improvement and capital investment to customers in the chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and consumer industries worldwide.

The Role:
The primary purpose of the Planning Engineer is to support the Performance and Portfolio Management Office in the production and maintenance of planning standards cognisant with industry good practice whilst ensuring appropriate application within individual projects.

The Planning Engineer will from time to time manage individual programmes being accountable for their maintenance, statusing and reporting on a regular basis. Support the Project Controls Department with business wide process & system development. Provide Schedule Management expertise to other projects as required. Lead and promote schedule control methodologies within the assigned project(s) whilst ensuring compliance with project specific requirements and business procedure(s).

Establish and agree the schedule structure (WBS) to ensure the schedule provides a common framework against which deliverables and that progress and achievement can be communicated and understood by all relevant stakeholders. The Planning Engineer will produce, manage and govern both the Contractual and Performance Measurement Baselines.

Ensure the baseline schedule aligns to the delivery strategies of all contributing elements and is understood and agreed by the individual operating areas The Planning Engineer ensures all key activities, milestones, logic and interfaces associated with each primary deliverable are clearly identified and coordinated such that potential problem areas or opportunities are quickly identified and appropriate action reviewed and implemented

To produce plans for the completion of I/E Installation and Commissioning activities on a new paint plant build. To develop and update the plan and then utilise the plan to produce reports for the Project Manager showing progress, activities on critical path, achieved productivities etc

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
P6 Knowledge
Typically HNC/HND or NVQ3/4 qualified with over 5 years experience in role/function. Delivers the agreed project support processes and works closely with the project team to deliver the desired commercial and planning outcomes. A proficient user of project processes and IT systems who brings specialist skills to the project.
